This position sits within the Product Performance team in our Home product category, part of Dyson’s world class Research, Design and Development (RDD) department. We are a multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to developing the cutting-edge technologies that makes Dyson market leaders and win the hearts of our users. We own and deliver the primary user-facing systems of our Home category products. This includes our floor cleaning systems, separation & filtration systems, and electro-mechanical intelligent systems.

About the role

As a member of the Product Performance team, you’ll be assigned to a live project from day one to shape our future technologies. Your main responsibility will be to develop product performance systems from early concepts to mass production. You will own the system, and work with internal and external partners from various functions to design, integrate, verify, validate and deliver the system.

Your core day-to-day responsibilities will be to:

  • Design solutions to optimise product performance using a mixture of simulation, prototyping and experimentation

  • Conduct fundamental studies to understand the critical factors and limits of product performance technologies and systems

  • Translate product business targets into product performance system requirements and development work packages

  • Proactively identify and manage risks throughout the development of the system, troubleshooting, analysing and resolving issues that occur

  • Develop test methods and influence verification and validation plans to reflect real customer experiences and ensure product performance targets are met

  • Manage communications and collaborations with partners and stakeholders

About you

Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A degree (or working towards a degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or other related disciplines

  • Graduating by August 2025.

  • Familiarity or interest in one or more of the following areas: mechanical design, fluid dynamics, filtration, programming, data acquisition, signal processing, data analysis, statistics, image processing, machine learning, simulation, systems thinking

  • Familiarity or interest one or more of the following tools: CAD, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Python, C/C++, NI DAQs, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, Arduino, Minitab

  • Deep passion for technology and good design, being creative and innovative in problem solving

  • High drive to disrupt, with a strong growth mindset and sense of ownership

  • Clear logical and critical thinking, with an attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to lead, collaborate, and manage stakeholders in English
