The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including Air Force Space Command, U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
Aerospace's GPS Program Office is a high-performing team bringing technical engineering capabilities to the fast-moving and highly impactful field of space-based navigation. The team participates in a wide range of technical activities, including leading special studies to shape the future of the nation's military and civilian GPS system, working with government, contractors, and military and civil GPS users to influence customer decisions on GPS satellites and military user equipment. We are looking for an enthusiastic GPS Satellite Subsystem Engineer (Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer - Systems Engineering - Acquisition) with excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to provide technical and programmatic support to the GPS III/IIIF development, production and integration efforts, as well as to help define the next generation of PNT space systems. The successful applicant will be required to interact with the USSF, Aerospace's Engineering & Technology Group (ETG), and contractors in a fast-paced program office environment. The selected applicant will be expected to proactively assist with leading Aerospace's efforts to help its USSF customer and contractor team integrate satellite subsystems and those subsystems' components into the satellite. What You'll Be Doing
- Engage with impact to help the USSF provide oversight of the development and production of satellite subsystems' hardware and/or software, and advise the USSF counterparts as issues arise, especially as it pertains to test and integration of spacecraft antennas and/or telemetry/command/control subsystems & components
- Deliver results in support of the GPS III/IIIF satellite hardware and/or software development and production efforts, including the verification of requirements and participation in failure investigations
- Operate strategically in leading the development and production of the GPS IIIF satellites, including technical performance assessments, risk management, and program execution acting as the technical representative to the USSF covering Systems Engineering and Integration of the subsystem(s) for which you are responsible
- Foster innovation as part of a team that includes Aerospace, the government, SE&I/SETA contractors, and the prime contractor and their subcontractors
- Lead change with the customer team to develop a way forward for future GPS satellite acquisitions
- Investigate technical problems, assemble briefings and reports, and provide technical data to the USSF and Aerospace management
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Project Engineer - Systems Engineering - Acquisition
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, or related technical discipline from a recognized institution
- 6 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and communicate recommendations to customer/management
- Succinctly and effectively inform customer/management of technical activities, issues, and accomplishments through reports and briefings
- Experience with satellite systems, or satellite bus/payload subsystems and components, during satellite development, production, mission integration, and/or test phases of the satellite life cycle
- Willing to travel domestically, on average three to five days every two months
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Sr Project Engineer - Systems Engineering - Acquisition include:
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Experience relevant to fielding aerospace systems, including hardware or software during the development, production, integration, test, and/or operation phase

- Current Secret or Top-Secret clearance, with the ability to get a Top-Secret/SCI clearance
