  • Provide ongoing strategic counsel to the CEO, CFO, and Executive Committee on key market, competitive, and enterprise‑level strategic issues.

  • Deliver high‑impact strategic initiatives that address the firm’s most pressing enterprise‑level challenges and accelerate execution of strategic priorities.

Inorganic Growth & Strategic Investments

  • Oversee governance and active management of the firm’s minority investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategic, financial, and risk objectives.

Internal Consulting & Strategic Execution

  • Lead State Street’s internal consulting organization, delivering best‑in‑class strategy, program leadership, and analytical support focused on the firm’s highest‑value enterprise priorities (e.g., growth, cost efficiency, risk, technology)

  • Define and enforce a clear consulting mandate tied to measurable enterprise outcomes, including financial impact and critical strategic KPIs

  • Establish and manage enterprise‑level governance for internal consulting work, including demand management, project intake, prioritization, and ROI thresholds, in partnership with the CEO, CFO, and Executive Committee.

  • Drive strong economic discipline across the internal consulting portfolio by tracking cost, value delivered, and time‑to‑impact, and benchmarking internal delivery against external alternatives.

  • Build and scale enterprise change and execution capabilities, including methodologies, tools, and operating rhythms to support complex, cross‑firm initiatives.

  • Maintain independence and credibility of the internal consulting function, ensuring objective, fact‑based perspectives and appropriate challenge to business leadership.

  • Lead a hybrid consulting model that integrates internal teams with selective external advisors to supplement specialized expertise while preserving institutional knowledge and enterprise continuity.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Attract, develop, and retain top‑tier strategy and consulting talent, fostering a high‑performance, inclusive, and collaborative culture.

  • Position the Strategy and Internal Consulting function as a key leadership development engine for State Street, with strong talent rotation into senior roles across the firm.

  • Set a consistently high bar for intellectual rigor, judgment, execution discipline, and professionalism aligned with State Street’s leadership standards.

Reporting & Governance

The role has a dual reporting relationship to the Chief Financial Officer and a rotating senior business executive (currently the CEO of State Street Investment Management). For M&A, strategic investments, and internal consulting activities, reporting is to the Chief Financial Officer for governance purposes.
