Global FDM Manager (Brazil with report to Global Team)

The Global FDM Manager is accountable for leading and continuously improving Bristow’s global Flight Data Monitoring program. The role will provide consistent, reliable and timely flight data analysis for all participating AOCs while respecting local regulatory, labour, confidentiality and operational requirements.

The role owns the day-to-day delivery, people, systems, data quality, analysis, reporting and stakeholder coordination of the FDM program. The FDM Manager reports directly to the Director Aviation Safety and works in close functional partnership with Global Flight Standards, which owns the operational manuals and the technical basis of the approved event sets. The FDM Manager converts approved policy, manual and event-set requirements into an effective, controlled and measurable FDM service.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct day-to-day delivery, ensuring flight data is received, processed, validated, analysed and reported consistently across participating AOCs.
  • Lead and develop the FDM team, managing competence, workload, resources, objectives, succession and service performance within delegated authority.
  • Maintain the integrity and traceability of aircraft data, parameter mappings, measurements, event outputs and analytical records, resolving data-quality and system issues with Engineering, IT and suppliers.
  • Monitor event effectiveness, data gaps and fleet differences, ensuring proposed measurements, algorithms and configurations are documented, tested and supported by evidence, and provide data-driven recommendations to Global Flight Standards regarding potential changes to event sets.
  • Work with Global Flight Standards to implement approved event sets aligned with OM-B, SOPs, FCOM/RFM limitations and training standards, without independently redefining operational requirements.
  • Maintain controlled testing, acceptance, release and post-implementation records for approved event, configuration, software and process changes.
  • Protect identified and de-identified data in accordance with policy, law, AOC arrangements, employee agreements and access controls, escalating confidentiality or integrity concerns promptly.
  • Provide timely trend reporting, KPIs and analysis to AOCs, investigations, Safety Action Groups and Safety Review Boards, clearly identifying risk, limitations and recommended action.
  • Build effective relationships across AOCs and represent Bristow with approved customers, regulators, industry groups and service providers while maintaining a consistent global service.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: (minimum education requirements, key skills and experience)

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience in aviation, safety, engineering, data analytics or a related discipline.
  • Professional pilot or engineering licence, or equivalent operational aviation experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience managing or delivering an aviation FDM, FOQA or equivalent flight-data analysis program.
  • Practical knowledge of flight-data processing, parameter validation, event development, trend analysis and analytical quality control.
  • Knowledge of aviation safety management, operational risk, Just Culture, confidentiality and the interfaces between Flight Operations, Training, Engineering and Safety.
  • Experience leading people, coordinating work across locations and communicating technical findings to operational leaders and senior management.

Skills

  • Strong leadership, judgement and integrity, with the confidence to protect FDM confidentiality and purpose.
  • Analytical and curious, able to distinguish genuine operational signals from data-quality issues and explain uncertainty clearly.
  • Collaborative and pragmatic, able to work within defined accountabilities and influence across organisational and cultural boundaries.
  • Clear communicator with disciplined change control, record keeping, prioritisation and follow-through.
  • Proficient with relevant FDM, Microsoft 365, data-analysis and business-intelligence tools.
