Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Global Facilities Engineering department. Based in Boise, this role provides a unique chance to influence the future of facilities engineering globally, ensuring our world-class facilities operate flawlessly and sustainably.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Provide Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise

  • Serve as the Technical Field Authority, offering consultation and support to Global, Regional, and Site Facilities and Manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate strictly with internal partners, including the Technology Development Team, Procurement, Finance, and Legal, to determine and successfully implement engineering solutions.
  • Develop, review, and maintain Micron's global standards, specifications, and best-known methods (BKMs).
  • Ensure standardization and alignment across Micron's global network for engineering and design concepts, construction project execution, reliability programs, and operations and maintenance practices.
  • Analyze system designs to identify improvements for better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings.
  • Provide problem analysis support using standard tools and methodologies.
  • Compare engineering standard methodologies used within Micron and across the industry.
  • Stay up-to-date with brand new technical knowledge in your subject area, including industry trends, technological advances, design innovations, and sustainability.
Provide Design and Construction Project Support, Leadership, and Expertise
  • Support global, regional, and site design and construction project teams in engineering and design development for large-scale facilities infrastructure expansion projects.
  • Develop, review, and maintain global design and construction standards and specifications.
  • Develop system design concepts for deployment in design and construction projects.
  • Ensure effective communication with local facilities, design, construction, procurement, and manufacturing partners to achieve project objectives.
  • Review design packages and provide detailed feedback promptly.
  • Support cost and schedule estimates and justifications for approvals.
  • Supervise and coordinate consultant resources as needed.
  • Ensure scope meets customer needs and organizational change procedures are followed.
  • Coordinate progress and provide construction support as required.
  • Ensure designs align with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Review databases and system operating trends to assess network capacity and validate utilization and diversity factors.
  • Lead capacity and scenario planning across the network, evaluating system and distribution capacity impacts.
Provide Global Initiatives Program Support, Leadership, and Expertise
  • Develop, review, and maintain global best-known methods (BKMs) centered around operations and maintenance reliability and performance.
  • Lead global facilities programs and initiatives, defining program objectives, roadmaps, and high-level implementation plans.
  • Lead global sustainability programs, including emissions, energy, water, wastewater, and green infrastructure design pillars, supporting Micron’s corporate sustainability program.
  • Collect and consolidate lessons learned and feedback to incorporate into global standards and BKMs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 to 15 years of experience in the semiconductor and facilities-related industry or other process industry.
  • Technical expertise in facilities and semiconductor electrical systems, including high, medium, and low voltage systems, critical and emergency backup systems, sag mitigation systems, uninterruptible power supplies, variable frequency drives, lighting, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to travel internationally 25% of the time on average, with up to 50% during critical project phases or site activities.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and customer-focused attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills; proficiency in English required.
  • Self-motivated and driven to excel.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing and facilities systems.
