This includes product that manage the care of health system populations, better serve patients at the point of care, reducing health system costs and reducing clinician workload.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a versatile candidate that can blend a Site Reliability and Software Engineering skillset to support a suite of healthcare analytics and clinical data platforms. This role is ideal for someone who can operate across hybrid tech stacks—including .NET, Angular, SQL Server, Java, Kubernetes, and modern cloud-native services—while delivering high availability, modernization, and infrastructure reliability, what we are referring to as a Site Reliability Platform Engineer. The primary focus is on strong DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering skills. However, experience with the application tech stack is also important for two key reasons: enabling effective platform reliability and supporting architectural planning and direction for other engineers focused on application-layer development. Strength in one stack over the other is acceptable, provided the candidate is willing and eager to grow across both ecosystems. You will lead critical engineering efforts across cloud-native and legacy platforms, guiding modernization, security, and observability across product lines.
What you'll own in this role:
Lead global engineering initiatives to migrate platforms to Health Catalyst’s next-generation, cloud-native architecture
Serve as site reliability engineer across a diverse set of healthcare technology platforms
Maintain and modernize infrastructure spanning legacy and modern stacks, including Kubernetes, Java/Tomcat, .NET (C#), SQL Server, and associated Azure/GCP services
Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (GCP) and Bicep (Azure)
Design, secure, and scale deployments across legacy VM stacks (IIS, .NET, SQL Server) and containerized services (Kubernetes, Helm)
Maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate deployment and rollback processes, and ensure observability and uptime across environments.
Must demonstrate proficiency in one or more modern pipeline technologies such as Azure DevOps Pipelines or Jenkins and understand underlying build frameworks like MSBuild, Maven, Webpack.
Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution efforts across platforms, including participation in on-call rotations and post-incident reviews
Collaborate closely with DevOps, InfoSec, and QA teams to maintain audit readiness for SOC 2 and other frameworks
Mentor and upskill junior engineers, drive design reviews and architectural improvements
What you'll bring to this role:
5+ years of experience in full-stack platform engineering, SRE or DevOps roles
Infrastructure-as-code expertise using Terraform and/or Bicep
Strong proficiency in either Azure and GCP cloud services and networking
Strong hands-on knowledge of .NET (Core or Framework), including proficiency with C# as the primary language, Angular, and SQL Server
Proficiency in Java-based web applications and application servers (e.g., Tomcat)
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with IIS, Windows Server administration, and legacy web infrastructure
Familiarity with centralized logging, monitoring, and alerting systems
Excellent cross-functional communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
Other skills that will help:
Experience in healthcare or highly regulated environments
Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, or HITRUST compliance standards
Exposure to both Azure and GCP cloud services
Comfort with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
What You'll Get:
Ownership of reliability and modernization strategy across two critical product lines
Hands-on leadership role in a high-impact healthcare engineering environment
Autonomy, technical depth, and the support of a collaborative global team
Information Security and Compliance Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with training directives required by the organization pertaining to Information Security, Acceptable Use Policy and HIPAA Privacy and Security.
- Adhere to and comply with the organizations Acceptable Use Policy.
- Safeguard information system assets by identifying and reporting potential and actual security events to the organizations Security and Compliance Officers.
The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job function. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, and indeed additional responsibilities may be assigned by Health Catalyst.
