About Vailent & Vinmar

Vinmar is a global leader in the marketing and distribution of polymers and chemicals, operating in over 100 countries with more than 45 years of success.

Vailent is a subsidiary of Vinmar, created to reimagine how polymers are bought and sold. We’re building a technology-enabled B2B marketplace that gives buyers and sellers a faster, more transparent, and more efficient way to do business. Our platform is designed to empower Vinmar’s global network while transforming an industry that has seen little digital innovation.

About the Role

At Vailent, you’ll join a small, agile, and fully remote team with the backing and stability of a global parent company. We combine the autonomy of a startup with the reach of a world leader. You’ll find the freedom to own your work, the support of approachable leadership, and the opportunity to solve complex challenges that directly impact how an entire industry operates.

As a Full-Stack Engineer at Vailent, you’ll design and build applications that power our digital marketplace, from intuitive frontends to scalable backends. You’ll work across React, Java/Spring Boot, and AWS, while also exploring AI integrations that bring intelligence into our products. In this role, you’ll own critical parts of the software development lifecycle, mentor teammates, and help set engineering best practices in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Full-stack development: Design, develop, and maintain scalable services in Java/Spring Boot and modern web interfaces in React.
  • Architecture & API design: Create RESTful APIs, microservices, and system integrations that are secure, reliable, and high-performing.
  • SDLC leadership: Own features from requirements gathering through design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Cloud & infrastructure: Deploy and manage applications in AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway, CloudWatch).
  • DevOps & CI/CD: Build and maintain pipelines with GitHub/GitHub Actions, ensuring smooth automated deployments and testing.
  • AI enablement: Collaborate with product and data teams to integrate AI/ML services (e.g., OpenAI, TensorFlow, AWS AI).
  • Quality & security: Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and implement monitoring/performance optimization.

Why Join Us

  • A culture that values technical excellence, ownership, and innovation.
  • High impact, real ownership — Your work directly shapes the future of a global industry.
  • Autonomy & trust — Freedom to own projects and make decisions.
  • Team & culture — A collaborative environment where leadership is accessible, and people genuinely enjoy working together.
  • Growth & learning — Opportunities to learn new skills, take on big challenges, and grow with a company on the rise.
  • Flexibility — Remote-first culture with balance built in.
  • Competitive compensation — Salary, benefits, and support for professional development.

Requirements

Hard Skills

  • Java & Spring Boot: Expert-level experience in building backend systems and microservices.
  • Frontend: Practical knowledge of React (and modern JS/TypeScript ecosystem), with a full-stack mindset.
  • REST APIs & Microservices: Skilled at designing, documenting, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure APIs.
  • AI Integration: Familiarity with AI/ML services and APIs, or awareness of how AI/ML can enhance applications.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Experience deploying and managing systems on AWS.
  • VCS & CI/CD tools: Proficiency with GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins (or equivalent); containerization with Docker/Kubernetes and automated testing frameworks.

Soft Skills

  • Strong collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams (product, design, DevOps).
  • Excellent communicator who can translate complex technical ideas for cross-functional audiences.
  • Resourceful problem-solver with a “figure it out” mindset—able to work independently and drive solutions forward.
  • Adaptable and proactive learner—keen to adopt new technologies and approaches.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability toward work.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
