The Full Stack Developer will engage in the development, deployment, and maintenance of AI-driven cloud solutions, collaborating closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure high-quality software delivery.
About Us
The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation (PJMF) is a philanthropic organization dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence and data science solutions to create a thriving, equitable, and sustainable future for all. PJMF works in partnership with public, private, and social institutions to drive progress on our most pressing challenges, including digital health, climate change, broad digital access, and data maturity in the social sector.
What We’re Building
PJMF is building a suite of AI-enabled tools that will serve as the intelligence layer for modern philanthropy. Every year, foundations and corporate funders deploy hundreds of billions of dollars toward humanity's most pressing challenges—yet they do so using systems designed for compliance, not insight. Program officers spend more time reformatting documents and reconciling spreadsheets than learning from their portfolios or deepening relationships with grant partners.
Grant Guardian, PJMF’s existing product, already helps hundreds of foundations use AI to streamline their financial due diligence workflows. The next step is a product that will place AI at the center of strategic philanthropy by automatically distilling grant applications into actionable insights, identifying patterns across thousands of grants, generating board materials in minutes, and lowering barriers for historically excluded organizations through features like proposal feedback and translation.
About the Role
PJMF seeks an experienced, multi-faceted and self-driven Full Stack Developer (FSD) to join our Products and Services function. The FSD is responsible for full-stack development of cloud solutions that are based around ML model predictions, using a rapid prototyping development approach. We are a small, high-performing team and in many ways function as a startup. As such, the ideal candidate will be someone who can develop an end-to-end solution around which our ML products will be deployed.
This is a greenfield opportunity to architect intelligence infrastructure for a sector that has never had it. You'll be working on problems like:
Building a reasoning engine for unstructured philanthropic data — ingesting and making sense of grant applications, reports, correspondence, and external datasets in dozens of formats and languages
Creating real-time pattern recognition across massive portfolios — clustering similar projects, surfacing emerging trends, and benchmarking performance across thousands of grants
Designing human-AI collaboration workflows — determining where automation creates leverage and where human judgment remains essential, then building interfaces that make that collaboration seamless
Scaling systems that learn continuously — every application reviewed, every report analyzed, and every piece of feedback makes our tools smarter for everyone
Ensuring equity and access — building translation, accessibility, and guidance features that expand rather than restrict who can access funding
The technical surface area spans NLP and ML systems, data pipeline architecture, real-time analytics, document generation, and user experience design for knowledge workers. Early modeling suggests we can unlock thousands of hours per organization annually—time that gets redirected from administrative work to strategic impact.

PJMF is committed to fair and transparent compensation practices. Our salary ranges are informed by market data from peer organizations in our sector. Our salaries are competitive and equitable and align with peers in the same job group. Because salary ranges are small and the internal parity review is thorough, offers are firm.
Starting salaries are typically placed in the lower half of the range. Final offers are determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
Our Commitment
We have built an environment that celebrates the differences in backgrounds and experiences. PJMF invests in activities that lead to greater inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in how AI and data are conceptualized, developed, applied, and deployed. We are applying the same framework as our team grows and expands. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we especially encourage and invite members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply.
It is important to us that our hiring process is accessible to everyone. If you require accommodations to participate in the interview process, please let us know when you apply.
