Job description

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Technology Lead with deep expertise in WordPress to support a critical security remediation initiative. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with WordPress architecture, platform upgrades, and vulnerability remediation, along with the ability to lead technical decisions and execute security best practices across enterprise WordPress environments.

This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can independently assess risks, resolve critical security issues, and provide recommendations to strengthen the platform's long-term stability and security.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead the technical strategy for WordPress security remediation and platform maintenance.
  • Upgrade and maintain WordPress core, themes, and plugins while ensuring platform stability.
  • Identify, investigate, and remediate vulnerabilities discovered through security assessments and scanning tools.
  • Resolve critical and high-priority security issues across WordPress environments.
  • Review existing architecture and recommend improvements to enhance security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot complex WordPress issues and provide effective long-term solutions.
  • Document remediation activities, technical findings, and future security recommendations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate technical risks, priorities, and implementation plans.
  • Ensure all work follows WordPress security best practices and industry standards.
What we would like to see
  • Extensive experience with WordPress, including core architecture, customization, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong experience upgrading and maintaining secure WordPress environments.
  • Proven experience remediating vulnerabilities identified through security scans.
  • Deep knowledge of WordPress core, themes, third-party plugins, and their security implications.
  • Experience resolving critical and high-priority production security issues.
  • Ability to lead technical decisions and define architectural solutions.
  • Senior-level experience as a Technology Lead, WordPress Architect, or Senior WordPress Engineer.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Professional English proficiency with the ability to collaborate effectively in global teams.

The salary range for this position is as listed below.
