Lead and oversee German-language editorial production for JustWatch Guides: edit and publish multiple daily lists and weekly features, research upcoming releases, craft and edit content with SEO/Google Discover in mind, coordinate with global writers, and ensure high-quality, locally resonant film and TV coverage.
JustWatch Guides (guides.justwatch.com is the editorial side of www.justwatch.com) is the world’s leading movie and TV streaming guide. Our editorial division is looking for a passionate editor with at least 5 years of experience and a proven track record of overseeing the editorial production of an entertainment website.
The ideal candidate will lead the team producing German language lists and features for our localised site in Germany and must be able to communicate and report in English via Slack and email. You will have a strong grounding and understanding of Google Search (and SEO broadly), as well as how to win on Google Discover.
Applicants should have an intimate knowledge of pop culture and tentpole Hollywood franchises (ie, Star Wars, Marvel, etc.) as well as proven experience covering films and series that resonate locally with the German audience.
Successful applicants will be able to write their own features and lists, but will mostly oversee the editing and posting of at least 5 new lists per day and 3 features per week, with the ability to schedule content for the weekend. Experience with interviewing talent within the entertainment industry is a strong plus.
We are looking for someone who is driven by curiosity, passion, meticulous attention to detail, and a goal-driven mentality. This is a fully remote position, so experience excelling in a freelance, work-from-home environment is crucial.
What you will be doing
- Edit and post daily German-language content produced by a global team of writers who are experienced in writing for the German market, including 5 lists/week and 3 features/week
- Staying up-to-date with movie & TV show releases and creating content concepts based on the latest news, both in Hollywood and the German-speaking market
- Researching and staying on top of upcoming movie & TV show releases, and writing/editing with authority on each topic pitched or assigned
- Working closely with the JustWatch Editorial Team
What we need from you
- A native German speaker with excellent written and verbal skills in English
- Previous editorial experience (ideally focused on SEO and Google Discover)
- Expert-level knowledge and passion for movies and TV shows
- An excellent eye for detail, for everything from research to proofreading to image selection
What we offer you
- You will become part of a passionate, professional and fun team while getting first-hand experience writing and editing for an audience of over 50 million users per month
- A challenging learning curve and the ability to achieve continuous development: You will work directly with our Head of Editorial, Senior Editor, and other department Editors
- A positive working environment with an open feedback culture
- Freedom and support to pursue your development goals
- This is a high-growth position, with the ability to scale the department with more ideas, talent, and resources
We look forward to your application that shows what motivates you, why you want to work at JustWatch, and how you align with our core values.
