As a Fraud Analyst in our Gurgaon office, you will be responsbile for detecting, investigating, and preventing fraudulent activities originating from advertisers within Taboola’s ecosystem. You will work with large data sets, uncover suspicious patterns, and partner with cross-functional teams to build strong fraud-prevention mechanisms. Your work plays a vital role in protecting user safety, maintaining publisher trust, and ensuring the integrity of Taboola’s advertising platform.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • 2+ years in a data analyst or fraud analysis role
  • Strong SQL experience (advanced queries, joins, large datasets)
  • Experience with BI tools like Tableau, QlikSense, or similar
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work with global stakeholders with strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask and manage several investigations at once
  • Proven track record in identifying trends and translating them into actions
  • Excellent English (written and verbal)
  • Technical Skills (Enhanced as requested)
  • Strong Python knowledge (data analysis, automation scripts)
  • Experience with automation workflows and custom fraud-detection scripts
  • Understanding of web technologies, including:
  • HAR file reading & network debugging
  • JavaScript behavior and basic script interpretation
  • Redirect chain analysis
  • Browser/F12 developer tools
  • Familiarity with fraud signals (IP reputation, device fingerprinting, VPN/proxy detection)

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience working with Machine Learning models or building ETLs
  • Degree in Finance, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in advertiser fraud, malvertising, or ad-tech risk management
  • Familiarity with fraud-prevention platforms or cybersecurity tools
  • Experience with Salesforce or Jira
  • Previous experience in a similar role (major plus)

How you’ll make an impact:

As a Fraud Analyst, you’ll bring value by: 

  • End-to-End Advertiser Fraud Case Investigation
    Handle daily fraud alerts and suspicious advertiser activities. Conduct full investigations to determine risk, identify fraud types (malvertising, cloaking, policy abuse, billing fraud), and recommend enforcement actions.
  • Deep Data Analysis & Pattern Detection
    Use SQL, Python, and log-level data to identify abnormal advertiser behaviors, such as:
    • Traffic anomalies
    • Cloaking-based redirects
    • IP/geo manipulation
    • User-agent spoofing
    • Suspicious spend patterns
    • Policy-violating landing pages
  • Technical Fraud Investigation
    • Perform hands-on, technical analysis, including:
    • HAR file investigation (network calls, redirects, cloaking detection)
    • Landing page debugging
    • Basic JavaScript review to detect malicious scripts
    • Analyzing device, browser, and fingerprint-level indicators
    • Malware/malvertising and redirect chain analysis
  • Real-Time Monitoring & Alert Handling
    Review real-time advertiser risk alerts, validate automated system outputs, prevent false negatives, and take immediate actions such as:
    • Pausing advertiser campaigns
    • Blocking malicious creatives
    • Escalating severe cases to policy/relevant teams
  • Reporting, Documentation & RCA
    Prepare clear investigation summaries, fraud pattern reports, weekly trends, and root-cause analysis documents for internal stakeholders and leadership.
  • Fraud Prevention & Strategy
    Support the creation and refinement of advertiser-centric fraud detection rules, policies, and preventive workflows.
  • Research & Continuous Learning
    Stay informed about emerging fraud tactics in online advertising, browser-level evasion techniques, malware behavior, and new cyber-fraud patterns.
