About Catch Creation & Muddy Mat

Catch Creation is a global e-commerce company that creates, grows, and manages online brands. Our flagship brand, Muddy Mat, is a 9-figure revenue, bootstrapped, profitable DTC pet products company the #1 selling indoor mat for cleaning dog paws, loved by millions of pet owners across America.

We operate across TV, DTC e-commerce, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and expanding retail partnerships with Home Depot, Costco, and Walmart. Our portfolio also includes Cloud K9 (anti-anxiety dog beds) and Wizz (pet stain remover). We are remote-first, lean, and move fast.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on, entrepreneurial Fractional CTO to provide senior technology leadership during a critical growth phase. You will work directly with the Founder/CEO and leadership team to own our technology strategy, lead our engineering team, and ensure our platforms can scale with the business.

This is not a consulting role where you write recommendations and disappear. We need someone who will embed with the team, make decisions, and drive execution.

What You’ll Do

Technology Strategy & Architecture

  • Own and execute our overall technology roadmap and platform architecture
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that support multi-channel e-commerce growth
  • Ensure scalability, security, and reliability across all tech systems
  • Represent technology in leadership and strategic planning meetings

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage our existing engineering team day-to-day
  • Set clear priorities, KPIs, and delivery expectations for the tech team
  • Identify gaps and make hiring recommendations where needed
  • Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and quality

Platform & Systems

  • Oversee and optimize our Shopify multi-store setup, including integrations, apps, and checkout flows
  • Manage integrations with order tracking tools, upsell/downsell sequences, and third-party platforms
  • Audit existing tech infrastructure and implement improvements for performance and reliability
  • Ensure our systems support Amazon, TikTok Shop, DRTV, and retail channel operations

What We’re Looking For

Required

  • Proven experience as CTO, VP Engineering, or equivalent senior tech leadership role
  • Deep hands-on experience with Shopify and e-commerce tech stacks at scale
  • Track record of building, leading, and scaling engineering teams
  • Experience with multi-channel e-commerce: DTC, Amazon, TikTok Shop, or retail integrations
  • Strong communicator who can translate between technical and business teams
  • Based in the USA or Canada

Preferred

  • Prior fractional or advisory CTO experience
  • Familiarity with DRTV (direct response television) tech and operations
  • Experience at a high-growth DTC brand ($50M–$500M revenue range)
  • Exposure to 3PL/fulfillment tech and supply chain systems

Who You Are

You’ve done this before you know how to step into a fast-moving company, get up to speed quickly, and lead without needing hand-holding. You think like an operator, not just an architect. You’re equally comfortable reviewing a pull request and presenting a 12-month technology roadmap to the CEO.

You don’t hide behind process. You ship. You own outcomes. And you know that in a lean company, your impact is visible and immediate.

How to Apply

Please apply with your resume and a brief note covering:

  • Your relevant e-commerce / Shopify experience
  • Examples of engineering teams you’ve led
  • Your availability and preferred engagement structure (hours/week, start date)
  • Your rate or compensation expectations

We move quickly. Strong candidates will be contacted within a few business days.
