About Us

Atomic is the venture studio that co-founds companies by pairing founders with the best ideas, teams, and resources, and funding those with the most potential. When entrepreneurs co-found with Atomic, they team up with an experienced group of operators who have started dozens of companies and created billions of dollars in enterprise value.

Overview

We're building the AI-native infrastructure to power the next generation of insurance services.

Mid-sized insurance agencies are weighed down by manual processes, outdated systems, and administrative inefficiencies. Our mission is to transform this landscape by building an end-to-end AI automation platform that streamlines back-office operations, sales automation, enhances decision-making, and unlocks growth for this underserved segment of the insurance industry. Mid-sized insurance agencies are drowning in manual workflows, legacy software, and administrative overhead. We see an opportunity to build an end-to-end AI automation platform that streamlines back-office operations, sales automation, enhances decision-making, and unlocks growth for this underserved segment of the insurance industry.

We're well capitalized and backed by top-tier investors and have deep conviction in the demand from our earliest agency partners. We're building in collaboration with early adopters to test, refine, and deploy real-world vertical AI tools—and we're just getting started. This is a chance to join at the ground level, shape vertical AI workflows from 0-1, and help create something truly transformative.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on individual contributor and builder who’s mid-career but has already seen scale - someone who’s comfortable moving between code, product discussions, and system design. You’ll be responsible for owning key parts of the stack, working with customers and helping guide early technical decisions that will shape the company’s future.

This is a product-oriented engineering role: we value curiosity, thoughtful design, and a strong sense of accountability to the customer, even embedding with customer teams from time to time when needed.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and ship core product systems end-to-end - from backend services to frontend interfaces.

  • Collaborate directly with owners and early users to shape the product roadmap, sometimes embedding with non-technical teams to understand product priorities and pain points

  • Make foundational technical choices around architecture, tooling, and infrastructure.

  • Establish early engineering culture and best practices as the team scales.

  • Balance speed with technical excellence and quality - building systems that can evolve gracefully.

  • Handle on-call rotations for a growing software platform

Who You Are
  • You have 5+ years of hands-on engineering experience building production user-facing systems.

  • Experience working at a growth-stage company where you were required to wear many hats

  • You thrive in an intense work culture where we prioritize shipping quality, production software every day

  • Product-oriented mindset - you care about what you’re building and why, and enjoy working with customers directly

  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and thriving in high-autonomy environments.

  • You care about craft and know how to make tasteful tradeoffs between shipping and quality

  • Optional: You’ve worked in regulated spaces like healthcare or finance

Full Stack & Technical Environment

You’ll be working in a modern, pragmatic stack that optimizes for velocity, reliability, and developer happiness. We don’t chase hype — we use tools that let small teams build production-grade systems fast.

  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, and Tailwind — a clean, component-driven setup with strong typing and a bias for maintainable speed.

  • Backend: A microservices-oriented architecture written primarily in TypeScript, running on Node.js with Temporal for durable workflows and orchestration.

  • Database: Postgres as our backbone — battle-tested, relational, and scalable.

  • Infrastructure: Built on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging managed services where it makes sense (Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage) to reduce operational overhead.

  • Tooling: Structured logging and observability from day one (datadog), and a growing suite of developer-focused automation.

  • AI: Experienced in prompting and familiarity with Evals and RL

Why Join
  • You’ll be part of the founding DNA — shaping culture, product, and direction.

  • High-impact, high-trust environment with direct access to the founding team.

  • Meaningful equity upside and the chance to grow with the company.

We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
