Typical Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain full stack applications, from intuitive front-end interfaces to scalable back-end systems

  • Develop APIs, microservices, and cloud-based architectures to power innovative products

  • Collaborate closely with founders to define technical strategy and align it with business goals

  • Contribute to the technical roadmap, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance

  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code across the stack

  • Help shape the engineering culture, establishing best practices for software development

Common Qualifications

While each startup has its own hiring criteria, many founding software engineering roles in our network look for:

  • 3+ years of experience as a full stack or back-end engineer, with a track record of shipping high-quality products

  • Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and back-end frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Django, Flask, Ruby on Rails)

  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB)

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools

  • Proficiency in common programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or TypeScript

  • Experience in early-stage startups or lean teams is a plus
