About MoldCo
MoldCo is on a mission to transform the way patients find answers and care for mold-related and chronic inflammatory conditions. We combine cutting-edge diagnostics, digital care delivery, and a compassionate patient-first approach. As our Head of Engineering, you’ll lead the charge in building the technology backbone that powers this transformation.

The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader who loves building. Someone who’s equal parts coder, architect, and team-builder. You’ll own all things tech at MoldCo, from pushing commits to setting long-term strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full technology strategy and execution, aligning engineering with MoldCo’s mission, business priorities, and product roadmap.
  • Write clean, scalable, and secure code while establishing engineering best practices.
  • Design and maintain architecture and infrastructure that can scale with patient and provider demand.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, clinical, and business stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions.
  • Craft platform flexibility to expand into other chronic condition treatment categories.
  • Push the vision for and implement AI tools to advance provider and treatment efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
  • Define and implement processes around testing, CI/CD, documentation, and technical debt management.
  • Evaluate and manage vendor relationships, tooling, and external integrations.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven engineering culture.

Qualifications

  • History of shipping real code (6+ yrs) and leading real teams (2 yrs) - bonus points if both at once
  • Proven ability to write and ship production-level code in a modern stack (Next.js).
  • Experience scaling engineering teams from early-stage to growth-stage.
  • Strong background in system design, architecture, and infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of security, privacy, and compliance in healthcare or another high-trust industry.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for MoldCo’s mission and improving patient outcomes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in telehealth, digital health, or healthcare technology.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Previous experience building patient or provider-facing platforms.

Sound Like You?

  • You love moving fast and set a high bar for those around you.
  • You love rolling up your sleeves to ship code, but you also think strategically about systems and teams.
  • You thrive in early-stage, fast pace environments, where you can set the technical direction and processes from scratch.
  • You’re energized by collaborating with product, business, and clinical partners, not just other engineers.

Why Join MoldCo
You’ll have the opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a mission-driven health company from the ground up. As part of the leadership team, you’ll own a core pillar of the business and your work will directly impact how patients access care and find answers that change their lives.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
