We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Lines Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Financial Lines of insurance, including Directors and Officers (D&O), Errors and Omissions (E&O), Pension Trust Liability, Fidelity and Employment Practices Liability (EPLI). The Financial Lines Senior Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating insurance applications, determining coverage terms, and ensuring profitable underwriting results in line with company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment and Analysis:
    • Evaluate financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents to assess the financial stability and risk profile of potential clients.
    • Analyze industry trends and regulatory changes to identify potential impacts on underwriting decisions.
  • Underwriting and Policy Management:
    • Review and underwrite new and renewal business for financial lines of insurance, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and standards.
    • Determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing based on risk assessments.
    • Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines and policies to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and clients to facilitate the underwriting process and provide exceptional customer service.
    • Collaborate with the claims and legal departments to address complex underwriting issues and resolve disputes.
  • Portfolio Management:
    • Monitor and manage the financial performance of the financial lines portfolio, ensuring profitability and growth targets are met.
    • Prepare regular reports on underwriting performance, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and best practices in financial lines underwriting.
    • Participate in training and development programs to enhance underwriting skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial lines underwriting or a related field.
    • Professional designations such as CPCU, RPLU, or similar are preferred.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound underwriting decisions.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis and interpretation of financial statements.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require same day and overnight travel to meet with brokers, clients, and attend industry conferences or training sessions.
  • The role is a balanced office and remote opportunity, within company policy

SALARY: The estimated salary range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000 per year. This is a good-faith assessment of the salary range for this position only. In determining the actual salary within this range, MSIG USA will consider a candidate’s relevant experience, location, and other job-related factors.
