Job DescriptionWise is looking for a Financial Crimes Compliance Specialist to join the North America Financial Crime Oversight team. We work closely with teams across Wise (including first line operations, product, and banking teams) to provide guidance on financial crime controls (KYC, AML, Sanctions, Fraud) and approve new Wise products or features to ensure they are in line with compliance requirements. Externally, Financial Crimes Oversight is also responsible for defending Wise’s compliance program to regulators, law enforcement, and partner banks.
As a Financial Crimes Compliance Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting a financial crimes program that is driven by Wise’s mission for money without borders, transparency, and protecting customers. We are looking for someone with prior financial crimes compliance experience, an excitement and desire to learn, and strong organizational and communication skills.
DUTIES
The first point-of-contact for North America financial crimes escalations and requests submitted from first line operations teams. Conduct initial information triage and assessment of escalations, contact relevant stakeholders and compliance officers for their approval, and track the progress of open escalations.
Respond to subpoenas and information requests sent to Wise by law enforcement and other financial institutions
Oversee the unusual activity referral process for banking partners that support Wise
Assist with various compliance related initiatives and tasks, as needed, including gap remediations, updating internal policy library, risk assessments, and approval of new partners and products.
Assist with audits, regulatory exams, and partner due diligence including tracking the progress of state exams and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely responses.
Help develop and coordinate North America compliance training for Wise employees.
Conduct horizon scanning for NorthAm and initial analysis if applicable to Wise
Speak to internal stakeholders, regulators, or bank partners about high level financial crime policies and procedures at Wise
REQUIREMENTS
Financial crime compliance experience and desire to learn
Excellent communication and writing skills
Ability to adapt to change and prioritize
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple team functions, cultures, and geographies
Ability to identify and solve problems and inefficiencies
Self-starter and able to work independently
Good organizational and time management skills
