The Financial Accountant II is responsible for preparing journal entries and supporting schedules, and reconciling account balances. This individual will work with the Accounting team to prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP accounting requirements. They will assist in developing and updating accounting processes and internal controls, supporting internal and external audits, and providing analysis to Finance management.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepares and processes accounting journal entries for routine and some complex accounts. Works independently with others in the Company to obtain necessary details behind accounting entries or to resolve any discrepancies.
Reconciles financial balances for balance sheet accounts to underlying support, and either independently or with the assistance of other team members is able to research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Works collaboratively with the Financial Analysts to interpret and analyze accounting records, and provides analysis to Finance management as needed.
Assists in the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements.
Assists in the preparation of quarterly reporting packages for the Board of Directors and management, and various filings throughout the year.
Key contributor for requests made by internal and external auditors. Works independently with the auditors to provide them with further analysis or explanations related to the information they need.
Contributes to the greater understanding of the accounting processes and controls within the department. Develops and updates internal controls and process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Demonstrates a solid understanding of GAAP accounting and reporting requirements applicable to Arbella. Is able to perform research of accounting technical guidance of basic accounting scenarios. Contributes to team efforts of establishing new procedures within the accounting records, or devise a plan to correct previous records, to ensure compliance with the most current GAAP accounting requirements.

Maintains an approachable attitude and promotes positive customer service in all dealings internally and externally.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
2+ years of relevant experience in Accounting.
Experience with General Ledger software preferred.
Insurance or Financial Services industry experience preferred.
CPA candidate is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office.
Excellent customer service, communication and collaboration skills.
