Role at a glance

What: As Rally's first in-house Finance Lead, you'll be the financial partner to our CEO and leadership team on every major decision — pricing, GTM investment, headcount, vendors, and capital strategy.

Impact: You'll build Rally's finance function from the ground up and bring the rigor that turns finance into a real-time decision-making engine.

Team: You'll report directly to our CEO and partner closely with leaders across Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and People.

Work style: Remote-first within the United States, NYC preferred. Occasional travel for team gatherings, board meetings, and investor meetings.

About Rally UXR

Rally is the User Research CRM that helps product, design, and research teams talk to their users quickly, safely, and at scale. Our platform automates the unglamorous parts of research—participant recruitment, outreach, screening, scheduling, consent, and incentives—so teams can spend more time learning from customers and less time wrestling with manual workflows.

We're now building Rally's next chapter: an AI-native platform that handles the full recruiting lifecycle, end to end. Let’s end manual recruiting!

Trusted by teams at Google, Adobe, Figma, GitLab, Webflow, and others. Backed by Y Combinator, Stage 2 Capital, and Canapi Ventures.

About the team

This is Rally's first dedicated finance hire. You'll be building the function from scratch, reporting directly to our CEO and partnering with the full leadership team. You'll also manage our outsourced accounting partner as a vendor relationship, overseeing AP/AR, payroll, invoicing, and audit prep. We favor small, empowered teams, high ownership, and a tight feedback loop across the business.

The opportunity

Rally is growing quickly and capital efficiency matters more than ever. We're looking for a hands-on finance partner who can own the financial story end-to-end, drive discipline on cash and spend, and bring analytical rigor to the highest-leverage decisions in the company. You'll set the standard for what finance looks like at Rally — including the AI-native systems and processes the function needs.

What you'll do

  • Own daily visibility into cash, burn, and runway, and hold the leadership team accountable to capital efficiency

  • Build and maintain the financial model end-to-end: forecasting, scenario planning, cohort analysis, fundraising prep, and unit economics

  • Run budget construction, departmental spend tracking, and budget vs. actuals reviews; centralize visibility into SaaS, AI, and vendor spend

  • Partner on pricing and packaging — own the modeling, scenario analysis, and impact measurement behind pricing changes

  • Lead GTM finance work in partnership with Sales: CAC, payback, cohort NDR, pipeline-to-bookings, and commission modeling

  • Own procurement and vendor financial review; help decide what we pay for tools and where to negotiate

  • Build board, investor, and fundraising materials and partner with the CEO on narrative

  • Build the financial reporting and close infrastructure using modern tooling, AI, and automation

  • Manage the outsourced accounting partner to ensure accuracy and timeliness

What you'll bring

  • 3–8 years of post-undergrad experience in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, venture capital, and/or strategic finance at a high-growth SaaS startup

  • Strong modeling fluency: you build clean, defensible financial models and are comfortable with cohort analysis, unit economics, and scenario planning

  • Fluency in SaaS metrics: ARR, NDR, GRR, CAC, payback, magic number, burn multiple, gross margin, and cohort retention

  • A hands-on operator's mindset — you live in the model, run the budget, and drive decisions, not just produce decks

  • The temperament to hold founders and senior leaders accountable on budget, spend, and runway, and to push back when needed

  • Comfort with ambiguity; you build the playbook as you go and don't need defined scope to be effective

  • An AI-native approach to finance — modern FP&A stack, automation, and AI tooling, not legacy Excel-only workflows

Nice to have

  • In-house experience at a high-growth SaaS or AI-native startup (Series A–C)

  • Direct experience with SaaS pricing and packaging changes

  • Experience managing procurement and SaaS / AI spend in a high-growth environment

  • Exposure to fundraising processes (data room prep, model diligence, investor narrative)

  • Strong written communication — turning complex financial analysis into clear strategic recommendations

If you're excited about Rally and this role but don't meet every requirement, we'd still encourage you to apply! We're interested in what you can do, not just what you've done.

How we work

Rally is a remote-first company with teammates across the US and Canada. We default to async communication, use clear written documentation to keep everyone in the loop, and reserve meetings for collaboration, decision-making, and relationship building.

Remote-first: Work from anywhere in the US, with core collaboration hours that overlap across US time zones.

In-person connection: We bring people together for periodic team or company on-sites to build relationships, do deep-dive strategy work, and celebrate wins.

High ownership: You'll have real responsibility from day one and a lot of trust to figure out the best way to get to outcomes.

Customer-driven: We talk to users constantly and use those insights to drive decisions across Product, Design, Engineering, and Go-To-Market.

AI-native: We're building an AI-native product and operating like one internally. We expect everyone at Rally to be actively experimenting with AI tools, challenging how they work, and finding ways to move faster.

Compensation & benefits

Base salary range (US): $160,000 – $190,000 USD per year.

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires in this role across the United States. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and location.

Additional compensation: This role is eligible for variable compensation (such as an annual bonus and/or equity awards) in accordance with Rally's applicable plans. Any such compensation is not guaranteed and is determined at Rally's discretion under the terms of those plans.

Benefits for US-based full-time employees currently include:

  • Competitive compensation and meaningful equity

  • Flexible / unlimited PTO policy

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Parental Leave

  • 401(k) retirement plan

  • Home office set-up support

  • Monthly remote work stipend

  • Quarterly in-person team or company gatherings

Benefits may vary based on role, level, and location, and are subject to change as Rally grows.

Our hiring process

While the exact steps can vary by role, here's what you can generally expect:

  1. Initial conversation: A short call with our recruiting team to learn more about your background and share more about Rally.

  2. Hiring manager interview: A deeper conversation about the role, your experience, and what success looks like in the first 6–12 months.

  3. Live work session: A practical working session on a real Rally finance problem, designed to see how you think and operate.

  4. Team and cross-functional conversations: Time with leadership and key partners to answer your remaining questions.

We'll share details at each stage so you know what's coming and how to prepare!

Rally strives to recruit and retain exceptional talent from diverse backgrounds while ensuring pay equity across our team. Our salary ranges are based on competitive market data for our size, stage, and industry, and may adjust over time as the market evolves.

Rally is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected characteristic.

We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations to candidates with disabilities throughout the application and interview process. If you need support or an adjustment at any point, please let us know how we can help.

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work for this role. It is not a complete list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Employment with Rally is "at will," which means either you or Rally may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without notice, and for any lawful reason or no reason at all.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
