As our Finance Analyst, Expansion - you’ll build the financial models behind CIC’s expansion decisions: where we open new innovation campuses, on what terms, and whether the numbers work. You’ll turn lease terms, buildout costs and occupancy assumptions into clear recommendations for our leadership team. Beyond expansion work, you’ll also provide broader business and operational support across the company, working closely with our Business Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager and executive team.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK

As our Finance Analyst you will support the Business Operations Manager, the executive team, and the greater organization, using data analysis to make sound recommendations for launching and operating new projects and products. You will execute analyses for key company decisions by developing work plans, gathering and synthesizing relevant data, building models, and developing final recommendations for management.

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Build and own financial models for new campuses and other expansion opportunities: define inputs, test assumptions and show how sensitive the outcome is to each one
  • Work with the Senior Project Manager and regional leads to keep models tied to real deal terms and site realities as each opportunity progresses
  • Turn model outputs into clear, decision-ready recommendations for the executive team
  • Track financial results at campus and company level, spot trends, and flag what they mean for strategy and operations
  • Pull together financial and operational data for Quarterly Business Reviews and help build the materials
  • Take on ad hoc analysis for strategic projects, and help improve the models and templates used across the company

ABOUT YOU

You’re a self-directed, hands-on analyst who’s happy to own a model end to end. More specifically, you are:

  • Comfortable explaining numbers to senior, non-finance leaders, and willing to push back when the assumptions don’t hold up
  • Happy to roll up your sleeves on operational work, not just modeling
  • Calm and productive with tight timelines and changing priorities
  • Flexible with international time zones, given CIC’s global presence

YOU HAVE

  • 3 to 5 years of hands-on financial modeling, ideally in real estate, hospitality, co-working or another business where you’ve modeled physical sites or locations
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building models from scratch for new sites, projects or locations (things like lease terms, buildout costs, occupancy or revenue ramp, and site-level P&L)
  • Advanced Excel skills. You’re comfortable building, stress-testing and explaining a model someone else will rely on
  • A track record of turning analysis into clear recommendations for non-finance leaders, not just handing over the numbers

NICE TO HAVE

  • Power BI or similar reporting tools
  • Exposure to lease negotiations, site selection or development projects

OUR OFFER

  • Compensation of $80-91,000 commensurate with experience
  • 100% company-paid premium healthcare and dental benefits.
  • 100% company-paid long- and short-term disability, and life insurance.
  • 401k (must be 21+).
  • 23 days of PTO accrued annually (more with seniority), plus thirteen paid holidays.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
