The Opportunity

Workhuman, the pioneer of employee recognition, is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our Corporate Communications team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to kickstart their career in the fast-paced and ever-evolving field of public relations and communications. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Global External Comms, the External Communications Specialist supports the strategy, design, development, and management of Workhuman's global PR and external communications activities. You will be helping to identify trending topics and media opportunities, reporting on PR and external comms efforts, and showcasing results across the business. The External Comms team maintains, engages, and improves Workhuman's reputation and brand awareness and authority. Candidates who would be successful in this role are described as having a passion for communication and collaboration, a proactive mindset, and an eagerness to learn.
Please note this is a hybrid role requiring 2 days per week onsite in Framingham, MA.
What we can offer you

  • Media Relations:
    • Assist in building and maintaining relationships with media professionals.
    • Draft media pitches and briefing documents.
    • Create media lists and ensure lists are consistently updated.
  • Reporting:
    • Monitor media coverage and assist in analyzing and summarizing media coverage and campaign performance.
    • Conduct research on industry trends, competitor activities, and relevant news.
    • Monitor and proactively flag trends and articles relevant to Workhuman.
  • Content Creation:
    • Collaborate with team members to develop key messages and narratives.
    • Collaborate with External Comms team on data storytelling efforts, specifically the Human Workplace Index.
    • Research relevant and important information including business strategy, products and services, key customers and competitors to share with stakeholders.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, internal communications, and product, to ensure cohesive messaging.
    • Collaborate with external partners and agencies as needed.

  • Thoroughly enjoys creating and fostering relationships with others (colleagues, journalists, etc.)
  • An exceptional communicator and writer who is highly organized, agile, and capable of managing a large volume of competing priorities and demands in a fast- paced environment.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills
  • Creative thinker
  • Top notch collaborative skills, with the ability to work with many people at once and be open to new ideas, suggestions, and "in it to win it" together mentality.


Achievements

  • 0-2 years in PR
  • Basic understanding of PR principles and media relations (Prior PR agency experience is a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
