Your Role

In this role, you will:

  • Experienced Global Trade professional required to join our Global Trade Compliance (“GTC”) team in Boston, MA.
  • The GTC Sr. Manager, Americas Export will be part of a team responsible for the export compliance program for global operations, supporting Aptiv, Wind River and other Aptiv subsidiaries (collectively “Aptiv”).
  • This role focuses on ensuring the legal international trade of software and goods in compliance with applicable government  laws  and  regulations,  with  an  emphasis  on  export  compliance  regulations  in  the  US,  Canada,
    Mexico, and Honduras.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the company’s activities are compliant with domestic and international customs, export, and sanctions requirements.
  • Serve as the resident operational expert on customs, export, and sanctions laws and regulations.
  • Monitor, analyze and interpret government regulations, policy and requirements applicable to Aptiv’s operations for compliance as they relate to customs and export control laws and regulations, and sanctions.
  • Provide export control/dual-use classification, as required, to support compliant export of Aptiv & Wind River products and software.
  • Manage US export license applications with BIS and DDTC, usage and reporting requirements.
  • Support the establishment, documentation and periodic update of trade compliance processes and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver training, cross-functionally, to relevant Aptiv stakeholders.
  • Support Aptiv’s GTC Internal Assessment program by carrying out site assessments and managing identified improvement requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of customs related records in accordance with Aptiv and Legal requirements.
  • Support Customs Compliance related audits.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Supply Chain, Logistics, Tax, Finance, Site Management, etc.) to support corporate planning initiatives and provide due diligence and M&A support.
  • Provide consultation to business units, subsidiaries, and business function leadership on issues affecting the business, and resolve matters in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Your Background

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications (must have)

  • Must be a US Citizen, US Permanent Resident or granted legal asylum
  • Top-tier global trade and export compliance experience, including with a law or consulting firm and/or multinational company.
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience with substantial knowledge of software export classification and jurisdiction determination, including cloud-based software design/development.
  • Practical experience making SNAP-R and DECCS applications, commodity jurisdiction determination, and software country of origin determination;
  • Experience managing EAR and ITAR export licenses, including DDTC approved MLA and TAA activities.
  • Knowledge of US re-export controls, including De Minimis/Direct Product rules.
  • Experience managing inter-company transactions in US/EU and US/China trade lanes, including interacting with global research & development teams.
  • Strong knowledge of US and EU sanctions and military end-use regulations.
  • Experience with SAP ERP GTS, Salesforce and Amber Road/E2Open Trade Automation Solutions.
  • English fluency required, multiple language skills desirable.
