This role is a hybrid opportunity, requiring 3 days onsite our corporate office in Rolle, CH.

Your Mission

As our Expert Bioinformatician, you will lead the development, optimization, and scaling of tools and algorithms that enable the clinical interpretation of genomic data, playing a key role in delivering precision diagnostics at scale (note: this role does not involve machine learning development).

The vale you bring

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable tools and algorithms for genomic annotation and variant interpretation. 
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the efficiency, reproducibility, and scalability of our development processes. 
  • Lead efforts to strengthen code testing frameworks and documentation standards, ensuring compliance with internal and external quality requirements. 
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Tertiary Development team and other cross-functional teams (e.g., pipeline development, TECH, clinical affairs, software engineering) to coordinate deliverables. 
  • Provide regular project updates and technical insights to the Director of Pipeline Development and the executive leadership team. 
Requirements
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Human Genetics, or a related field, with relevant industry or postdoctoral experience. 
  • Proficient in Python, SQL, Git, and Bash. 
  • Proficiency in C++ or R is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments, bioinformatics workflows, parallelization, and containerization (e.g., Docker). Experience with NGS data analysis is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of annotation, and interpretation of germline and somatic variants in human genomes. 
  • Strong grasp of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, unit testing, code reviews, and reproducible research principles.
  • Strong project leadership and cross-functional coordination skills, with a proven ability to drive complex projects independently. 
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting, with the flexibility to adapt to shifting business priorities.
