Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company pursuing novel therapeutics for non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), also known as metabolic dysfunction associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Our first therapy, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), was granted accelerated approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of adults with NASH with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis (consistent with stages F2 to F3 fibrosis) and is being studied in a Phase 3 trial for the treatment of NASH with compensated cirrhosis.

Position Summary

The Executive Director of Commercial Data Strategy and Analytics will be a senior leader responsible for building and scaling Madrigal’s global commercial data ecosystem. This role will own the commercial data vision and analytics roadmap in the short and long-term to enable Rezdiffra’s trajectory to peak performance, while also laying the foundation for future product launches. The role includes oversight of the commercial analytics team, commercial data management team, and cross-functional insight generation across both U.S. and ex-U.S. markets.

Key Responsibilities

Long-Term Commercial Data Vision & Analytics Strategy

  • Define and lead a multi-year commercial data and analytics vision aligned with the long-range brand plan for Rezdiffra and future assets.
  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap to evolve Madrigal’s commercial data capabilities, tools, and infrastructure in phases that match business growth and market complexity.
  • Identify and prioritize high-value commercial analytics capabilities to support Rezdiffra’s growth through launch, acceleration, and maturity.
  • Commercial champion for advanced AI and data science capabilities (e.g. predictive analytics, advanced analytics, next-best-action engine)

Commercial Data Strategy & Management

  • Own the global commercial data strategy, ensuring scalable integration of specialty pharmacy, hub, claims, CRM, payer, and EMR data to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner closely with IT to ensure commercial data governance is aligned with broader enterprise data architecture, compliance standards, and stewardship protocols.
  • Define commercial data quality standards, lineage processes, and best practices for data access, usage, and lifecycle management.

Advanced Analytics & Automation

  • Support development of and adoption of enterprise predictive-analytics products and translate their outputs into commercial action plans to drive proactive market insights, early signal detection, and strategic scenario planning.
  • Own BI development of key dashboards to automate key analytics across the commercial team
  • Champion a culture of data experimentation, agility, and continuous learning within the commercial function.

Global & U.S. Commercial Insights

  • Oversee the delivery of integrated insights and analytics across global and U.S. markets, enabling cross-regional consistency while accommodating local market nuances.
  • Establish a unified global KPI framework to guide strategic planning and executive performance management
  • Oversee commercial analytics team that includes brand analytics leadership and support across all the matrix commercial partners: market access, trade, patient access, sales, and marketing

Specialty Pharmacy, Hub & Brand Data Integration

  • Manage end-to-end visibility into the patient experience through the integration of specialty pharmacy and hub data, tracking initiation, drop-off, time-to-therapy, and adherence across geographies.
  • Support Rezdiffra brand teams with actionable insights to optimize uptake, address access bottlenecks, and shape future growth strategies.

Team Leadership & Vendor Oversight

  • Build and mentor a world-class team of analysts and data experts with commercial and global scope.
  • Lead relationships with key analytics vendors, platform providers, and data aggregators (e.g., IQVIA, Symphony, Veeva, Snowflake, hub/SP partners).
  • Ensure flexible, scalable analytics resourcing that evolves with the business.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Executive Engagement

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Commercial, Medical Affairs, IT, and Executive Leadership teams.
  • Communicate data-driven insights with clarity and strategic impact, influencing decisions at the highest levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, technical, or business discipline (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics); MBA, MS, or PhD strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in commercial analytics, data strategy, or operations within pharmaceutical or biotech companies, including global and U.S. markets.
  • Proven success building long-term analytics strategies to support brand growth from launch through maturity.
  • Deep experience with commercial data integration (hub, SP, claims, CRM), master data management (MDM), and enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in leading advanced analytics projects & stewarding AI/ML development
  • Collaborating with IT on enterprise data infrastructure and compliance alignment.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Compensation: Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
