We are seeking a skilled and creative Environmental Artist to join our dynamic team. We are passionate about delivering captivating gaming experiences and are looking for a skilled artist who can bring our virtual worlds to life.
As an Environmental Artist at Sawhorse Productions, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual narrative of our games by creating immersive and visually stunning environments. The ideal candidate is not only proficient in environmental design but is also enthusiastic about pushing the boundaries of creativity in the gaming industry.
Responsibilities:
Environmental Design:
• Conceptualize, design, and create breathtaking 3D environments that enhance the overall gaming experience.
• Collaborate closely with Art Directors and other team members to ensure the environments align with the game's narrative and visual style.
• Have a deep understanding of the Roblox game engine and utilize its tools to maximize the quality and performance of the Roblox environments
Asset Creation:
We work with a team of 3D artists who:
• Produce high-quality 3D assets such as landscapes, buildings, props, and textures to populate game environments.
• Ensure assets meet technical requirements while maintaining visual excellence.
World Building:
• Craft seamless and immersive worlds that players can explore, ensuring a balance between aesthetics and gameplay functionality.
• Contribute to the development of level design, ensuring environmental storytelling is cohesive and engaging.
Optimization:
• Optimize environmental assets for performance, collaborating with technical teams to ensure efficient integration into the game engine.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to environmental art.
Feedback and Collaboration:
• Actively participate in creative discussions and provide/receive constructive feedback during the iterative design process.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental assets seamlessly into the game world.
• 2-4 years experience in 3D Design, Environmental Art, or related fields.
• Proven experience as an Environmental Artist with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in creating game environments.
• Proficient in 3D modeling software (e.g., Maya, Blender) and texture creation tools (e.g., Substance Painter).
• Knowledge of game development pipelines and experience with game engines (Roblox Studio, Unity and Unreal Engine to name a few).
• Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and storytelling within a virtual environment.
SALARY RANGE
• $35-55/hour
LOCATION/SCHEDULE
This role can be based in the Los Angeles office or remote. This position is generally operating during West Coast hours M-F 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
