At Mongoose, we believe every conversation matters.

We’re on a mission to change lives by making conversation intelligence accessible to all in higher education. Our purpose? To move people forward. Whether it’s helping a student navigate their first semester, connecting alumni with meaningful opportunities, or ensuring parents feel informed and supported—our AI-enabled platform drives compliant, empathetic, and impactful conversations that build trust and foster success campus-wide.

We know that conversations aren’t just a feature—they’re the foundation of connection. That’s why we focus on delivering insights, relevance, empathy, scale, and trust in everything we do. At Mongoose, we’re transforming communication in higher ed because we believe reputation is a mutual responsibility, and the right insights fuel measurable outcomes.

Join us and be part of a team that’s making a real difference in education—one conversation at a time.

As an Entry-Level Account Executive at Mongoose, you’ll play a key role in our growth by working with prospective clients and learning how to show them the impact of our solutions. Maybe you’re a successful BDR with a proven track record who’s ready to take the next step, or maybe you’ve already been an AE and are looking for a place to further hone your skills in a supportive, coaching-first environment. Either way, this is an opportunity to grow into a confident, full-cycle seller while being backed by a team that’s invested in your development. You’ll focus on building relationships, understanding real challenges in higher education, and helping schools see what’s possible with Mongoose—turning great conversations into long-term partnerships.

What You'll Do

  • Step Into the AE Role: Take ownership of the full sales cycle—from prospecting to close—with the support and coaching needed to help you succeed. Build on your BDR/SDR foundation (or early sales experience) and grow into a confident closer who brings new clients into the Mongoose family.
  • Build Pipeline with Purpose: Develop a consistent pipeline through outbound efforts, networking, and follow-up that turns early interest into real opportunities. Partner closely with SDR resources while continuing to build your own prospecting muscle and learning what great pipeline generation looks like.
  • Learn to Deliver Winning Solutions: Conduct engaging product demonstrations that connect client challenges to Mongoose’s solutions. Grow your consultative selling skills by asking the right questions, understanding client needs, and clearly communicating value throughout the sales process.
  • Guide Deals to the Finish Line: Support and lead prospects through each stage of the buying journey—from first conversation to signed agreement. Stay organized, keep momentum strong, and learn how to manage timelines and next steps so deals move forward with confidence.
  • Build Relationships That Last: Connect with higher education professionals and begin developing trusted relationships. Focus on understanding their goals and challenges, and position yourself as a helpful partner who is invested in their success—not just the sale.
  • Collaborate and Grow: Work closely with Marketing, Product, and Client Success teams to learn the full Mongoose story and how each function supports the customer journey. Take feedback, ask questions, and continuously improve your approach with support from your team and leadership.
  • Make Data Your Foundation: Keep your pipeline clean and up to date in HubSpot, tracking activities and opportunities with attention to detail. Use data and feedback to understand what’s working, where to improve, and how to consistently level up your performance.

What You'll Bring to the Table

  • Bring Curiosity and Drive: You’re excited to grow into an Account Executive role and eager to learn what it takes to succeed in sales. Whether you’re coming from a BDR/SDR role or have early sales experience, you’re ready for the next step.
  • Develop Your Sales Skills: You’re building a foundation in consultative selling—learning how to ask thoughtful questions, listen actively, and communicate value in a clear and compelling way.
  • Be Relationship-Oriented: You enjoy connecting with people, building rapport, and creating positive experiences in every interaction. You’re motivated by helping others succeed.
  • Stay Resilient and Coachable: You handle challenges with a positive attitude and see feedback as an opportunity to grow. You’re willing to put in the work, learn from setbacks, and keep moving forward.
  • Be Organized and Detail-Oriented: You’re comfortable managing tasks, tracking progress, and staying on top of details. Experience with CRM tools like HubSpot is a plus, but a willingness to learn is just as important.
  • Have a Growth Mindset: You’re proactive, curious, and always looking for ways to improve. You’re excited to develop your skills, take on new challenges, and build a career in sales.
  • Bonus: Interest in Higher Ed: Experience or interest in higher education is helpful, but not required—you’re ready to learn and adapt quickly.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
