Street Diligence is a high-growth FinTech start-up with an innovative product offering and ambitious expansion plans. Our clients include leading financial institutions that use our platform to analyze and negotiate advantageous terms in legal and financial contracts. We break down key terms, identify what’s “market” and “off-market” and flags risks embedded in contract terms. Our platform also provides unique visuals, benchmarking and comparison to place negotiations and contracts in context. Founded in 2012, Street Diligence is headquartered in New York.
About the Role
We’re looking for a seasoned Engineering Team Lead with a strong web development background, proven leadership skills, and a curiosity-driven mindset to guide our growing team. This is a hybrid player-coach role: you’ll write production-quality code, lead sprint planning and ticket prioritization, and mentor engineers to ship great software — fast and smart.
You’ll report directly to the CTO and play a central role in aligning technical execution with Street Diligence’s broader product vision. If you thrive on solving real-world problems and love building high-performing, mission-aligned teams, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
Lead an engineering team through the full development cycle — from sprint planning and ticket scoping/assignment to deployment and delivery.
Write and review web-centric production code, especially in Python and JavaScript.
Coach engineers through technical challenges, peer reviews, and architecture decisions.
Own execution: translate product priorities into technical plans and keep the team moving.
Partner with Product and Design to ensure we’re solving the right problems the right way.
Foster a collaborative, curious, and high-accountability engineering culture.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
5+ years of experience in web development and software engineering, with 2+ years in a team lead or management role.
A strong grasp of frontend and backend architecture, with hands-on experience in modern web stacks — our current tech includes Python, JavaScript, MariaDB, Redis, Azure, and Frappe.
Comfort balancing leadership with hands-on coding.
Proven track record of owning sprint planning, backlog grooming, and cross-functional coordination.
A thoughtful, growth-minded approach to mentorship and team development.
Clear, collaborative communication — across both technical and non-technical audiences.
Curiosity, humility, and a drive to learn fast and build well.
Bonus Points For
Experience scaling SaaS platforms or working in high-growth startup environments.
Exposure to Snowflake, SQL optimization, or legal/fintech domains.
Why Street Diligence
You’ll help redefine how some of the world’s biggest investors understand risk.
You’ll work alongside smart, driven teammates who care about building something great.
You’ll have a direct line to leadership and the opportunity to shape our tech and culture as we grow.
We know great candidates may not meet every single requirement — if you’re excited about the role and think you’d be a great fit, we’d love to hear from you.
We know that not everyone will meet all of the qualifications listed above. If your experience doesn't perfectly align, but you believe you'd be a strong fit for the team, we encourage you to apply. We’re eager to learn more about what you can offer!
