About the teamWe’re seeking a scrappy, metrics-driven engineering operations manager to help supercharge Product & Engineering Operations! This role will report to the Director of R&D Operations and work closely with the CPO, CTO, and P&E leaders. The Engineering Operations Manager will be critical in building out the processes and insights that help support a high-performing engineering organization and build a world-class product.
Alloy operates in a hybrid-work environment. We look to foster collaboration and community by having our local employees onsite twice a week, and remote employees onsite once a quarter.
What you'll be doingThe Engineering Operations Manager will support all things product & engineering operations, working both tactically and strategically to ensure everything runs smoothly, while driving improvements in the way we work. This is an excellent role for someone with an engineering background, coupled with a strong interest in improving the way teams work.
We’re looking for an opinionated expert in engineering excellence who wants to drive transformation – tell us what we’re doing wrong, and lead the charge in fixing it! You will partner with leaders and teams throughout the whole organization while driving end-to-end system design and execution.
As Engineering Operations Manager, you will:
- Work with our engineering leaders and squads to identify technical and process bottlenecks. Lead the design and execution of improvement to the SDLC process.
- Build internal reporting capabilities to create leadership-level visibility into engineering & product performance, internal efficiency, and operations.
- Develop and implement guidance on engineering tooling, sprint planning, and reporting. We need someone who can understand the balance between process and the speed, creativity, and autonomy that allows our teams to be great!
- Help manage our engineering tooling stack, ensuring we’re efficiently using the right tools to get the job done.
- Work cross-functionally with partners in Technical Solutions to support various operational needs and build relationships.
- Assist in building a brand new R&D Operations function at Alloy, helping set the strategy, culture, and internal storytelling of the way we work.
The ideal candidate:
- Has a strong engineering background and is opinionated about how great engineering teams work. You’ve seen what great looks like and are ready to build it at Alloy!
- Can build systems and processes to facilitate internal operations.
- Enjoys being scrappy and moving fast, while continuing to iterate for continual improvement.
- Is a great communicator and relationship builder.
- Cares about culture and will be a key influencer in building a high-performing team.
Candidates for this role should have:
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, operations management, and process improvement methodologies
- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
- Proficient in using project management tools such as GIT, JIRA, and Notion
- Proven problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage with technical and non-technical audiences
- 5+ years of experience working in a highly cross-functional environment
Nice to haves:
- Experience building metrics reporting capabilities for product & engineering teams
- Prior experience building engineering culture and process across multiple teams

Alloy is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Below is the anticipated starting base compensation range for this role; however, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, in-demand skills, relevant experience, and/or geography. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for equity awards in the form of stock options (ISOs) as well as a competitive total benefits package. Your recruiter will be happy to walk you through the details and what compensation could look like for you specifically!
This position has a salary range of $130,000 to $170,000.
