  • Drive sprint planning, remove blockers, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality features and improvements.

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and building a diverse, inclusive engineering team.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and psychological safety where engineers can do their best work.

  • Champion engineering best practices including code quality, testing, observability, and incident management.

  • Balance technical debt with feature development and establish engineering metrics to track team health and delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in software development with a proven track record of building and shipping production systems.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript, including modern frameworks and development best practices.

  • 2+ years of experience in a people management or team leadership role, including hiring, performance management, and mentoring.

  • Experience with systems infrastructure, including cloud platforms, deployment pipelines, and scalable architecture design.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
