About the role:

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead one or more of our product engineering teams. In this role, you'll guide product development efforts while mentoring and growing a team of talented engineers. You will be responsible for driving the technical vision, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions, and fostering a collaborative and innovative engineering culture that promotes continuous learning and improvements. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust and scalable technical solutions.

What you’ll do:

This role blends hands-on technical contributions (60%) and people management (40%).

  • Team Leadership and Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

    • Conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify opportunities for professional growth.

    • Recruit, onboard, and retain diverse, high performing engineering talent.

    • Manage team workload, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient resource allocation.

    • Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

  • Technical Leadership and Execution:

    • Drive the technical vision and strategy for the team, aligning with overall business objectives.

    • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of high-quality software solutions.

    • Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.

    • Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to the team.

    • Identify and address technical opportunities, challenges and risks.

    • Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems.

  • Project Management and Delivery:

    • Collaborate with product managers, product designers and other stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

    • Manage project execution, track progress, and ensure timely delivery.

    • Identify and mitigate project risks and dependencies.

    • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders.

    • Implement and maintain agile development methodologies.

  • Process Improvement and Innovation:

    • Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes and workflows.

    • Identify and implement tools and technologies to enhance team productivity and efficiency.

    • Encourage innovation and experimentation within the team.

    • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.

    • Partner in product planning and roadmap development.

    • Work with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and collaboration.

What you should have:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years of people management experience

  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in product engineering

  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Experience successfully leading concurrent software engineering projects

  • Track record of delivering high-quality software solutions

  • Ability to balance technical leadership with people management

  • Experience with agile development methodologies

  • Sense of urgency along with strong organizational skills: a “get it clear then get it done” mentality

Nice to have:

  • Experience in financial lending industry

  • Experience with Salesforce development
