About the Role

As an Engineering Manager for CPaaS portals, you will lead a team of engineers to ship best-in-class customer-facing web apps for 8x8 CPaaS B2B customers around the globe. This role, based in Cebu, Philippines, reports to the VP of Engineering in Singapore HQ.

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader for web developers to participate in the challenging work of building SaaS-portals for the global market. We expect that you will be both a mentor and a leader for your 10+ engineers. This means you will help with technical decisions, coach the engineers reporting to you, and partner with stakeholders cross-functionally — and you will definitely be writing code. Responsibilities will include designing modern interfaces using the latest JavaScript-based architecture and deploying the product to 8x8 infrastructure in multiple public clouds and geo regions. You will work with Product Managers to understand customer requirements and guide UI/UX Designers and Developers to implement features.

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide technical and people leadership for a team of 10+ Full-stack, Frontend, and QA engineers, including regular one-on-ones to foster career development, maintain a positive team culture, and boost morale.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers on prioritization and planning to define work that delivers meaningful impact, and drive agile execution through sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

  • Track and optimize delivery metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and deployment frequency, continually refining processes to improve performance.

  • Manage technical architecture and quality, ensuring well-tested, modular, and reusable code with high test coverage.

  • Design scalable and modern web application architectures that offer delightful user-facing features, while focusing on performance, accessibility, and usability.

  • Set and uphold technical standards across the front-end team, promoting best practices, ownership, pragmatism, and comprehensive testing.

  • Mentor team members, guiding them in adopting new technologies, refining their skill sets, and advancing their careers.

  • Streamline CI/CD, testing, and release management to ensure quick and reliable delivery cycles.

  • Optimize application performance and scalability to provide reliable, high-quality user experiences.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing front-end web applications.

  • 2+ years of proven ability managing diverse engineering teams.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

  • Entrepreneurial, self-driven mindset with a passion for elevating the customer experience.

  • Deep knowledge of front-end JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js or React.js) and Node.js for backend.

  • Expertise with coding standards for HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+ JavaScript.

  • Familiarity with Node.js, Vue.js or React.js, k8s, and other modern tech stacks.

  • Experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).

  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in web app architecture.

  • Extensive experience in responsive web design and development.

  • Ability to design and implement highly scalable applications with a user-centric focus.
