At MNTN, we put our people first, full stop. This allows our company culture to be defined by our team members and their shared values, like trust, ambition, quality, radical honesty, and compassionate leadership. It’s why we all really love working for the Hardest Working Software in Television™ (and also why we were named one of Ad Age’s Best Places To Work in 2024.)

We pride ourselves on bringing unrivaled performance and simplicity to Connected TV advertising. Our self-serve technology makes running TV ads as easy as search and social, helping brands drive measurable conversions, revenue, site visits, and more. It’s what led MNTN to being named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2023. You can learn more about us and everything we do by visiting https://mountain.com/.

We’re committed to innovation that empowers, not replaces. At MNTN, AI is a tool for growth, enhancing efficiency while keeping a people-first approach. Our goal is to streamline workflows and drive new solutions—without compromising the human element that makes our company great.

So if wanting to do more, own more, and make a bigger impact comes naturally to you, then you may be the person we're looking for to join us in our next stage of growth.

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Platform Management squad—the team that makes sure customers have a seamless, frustration-free onboarding experience and can start spending money without hiccups. In short: you’ll be driving features that directly impact revenue. This squad also owns critical parts of the platform experience—like login, notifications, and APIs consumed by other teams across MNTN. Translation? The work your team does is both highly visible and deeply influential. If you’re excited about building foundational systems, leading exceptional engineers, and making a real business impact, this role is for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead & Build: Manage a team of engineers, cultivating a culture of growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and clear outcomes.

  • Stay Hands-On: Contribute to development with modern tools like React.js, Node.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL, while guiding best practices.

  • Architect & Scale: Own the onboarding flow, foundational UI features, and APIs, ensuring they are robust, performant, and scalable across the platform.

  • Drive the Roadmap: Prioritize and execute the squad’s roadmap, translating product and business needs into clear technical solutions.

  • Champion Quality: Implement and enforce processes that maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and security.

  • Encourage Innovation: Bring in new technologies, frameworks, and tools that can enhance our platform and engineering practices.

  • Collaborate Broadly: Partner with Product, Design, Customer Support, and other engineering teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.

  • Own Operations: Ensure smooth team processes for delivery, reliability, and system health.

What You'll Bring:

  • 3+ years of experience managing product-oriented engineering teams.

  • 4+ years working with UI technologies such as TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

  • Experience contributing to hands-on development.

  • Strong foundation with SQL and database concepts (Next.js experience a plus).

  • Experience working with UI/UX designers and micro-frontend (MFE) development.

  • Comfort with UNIX, scripting languages, and debugging complex systems.

  • Familiarity with SVN/GIT and managing release cycles.

  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and scalable SDLC practices.

  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Exceptional leadership skills: mentoring, guiding, delegating, and scaling teams effectively.

MNTN Perks:

  • 100% remote within the US
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Annual vacation allowance for travel related expenses
  • Three-day weekend every month of the year
  • Competitive compensation
  • 100% healthcare coverage
  • 401k plan
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for dependent, medical, and dental care
  • Access to coaching, therapy, and professional development

About MNTN:

Our recruiters will always reach out using an email address ending with @mountain.com OR @mntn.com. If you’re contacted by someone without that address and they mention a Reference Code (which we never use), then that ain’t us folks. Tell those trolls to take a hike–you’re waiting to climb a MNTN.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
