RevenueCat removes the headaches of building and scaling in‑app subscriptions. Since graduating from YC’s S18 batch we’ve grown into the default monetization platform for mobile: we’re in >40% of newly shipped subscription apps, we process $8B+ in annual purchase volume, and we help everyone from a solo dev in Brazil to the OpenAI mobile team understand and grow their revenue.

We’re a remote‑first crew of 100+, guided by values we actually practice: Customer Obsession, Always Be Shipping, Own It, and Balance. If you want your work to touch hundreds of millions of end‑users (and help the developers behind them get paid), you’ll fit right in.

RevenueCat is searching for a Engineering Manager to help our Data Team grow and succeed in our mission to put data at the service of our customers, supporting the data platform growth and its challenges and helping create a product that will help developers make more money. We expect our managers to be highly technical.

Our infrastructure is built on AWS, with production databases on Aurora Postgres & MariaDB, replicated with debezium and kafka to our data lake in S3, snowflake for warehouse and clickhouse for real-time metrics. We use Sagemaker for machine learning capabilities, Dagster for orchestration, DBT for transformations.

About you:
  • You have 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering, with a track record of designing, building, and maintaining complex, large-scale systems.

  • You always find yourself leading or influencing the grand vision and strategy on the Data.

  • You are experienced in both real time and batch data processing.

  • You have a product-focused mindset. You are opinionated and you envision how to put data at work.

  • You are highly technical and enjoy staying hands-on, writing and reviewing code, helping solve challenging technical problems, contributing in brainstorms and roadmapping.

  • As a manager, you thrive at mentoring and guiding engineers while actively contributing in technical decisions and when the team needs help.

  • You establish good relationships and communication with other teams, in particular with infrastructure and product.

  • You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively in a fully-remote environment. You are proactive and driven—when you see a problem or an opportunity to improve, you act. You are versatile, curious, and a fast learner who inspires the same in your team.

In the first month, you'll:
  • Meet frequently with your team, your manager, and key stakeholders to get up to speed.

  • Gain a high-level understanding of the data platform, its architecture, and how different teams interact with it.

  • Implement and ship your first project.

  • Familiarize with critical projects and subscription business concepts.

Within the first 3 months, you'll:
  • Build relationships across teams, gathering context to influence technical and operational decisions.

  • Build trust relationships with the engineers in the team.

  • Fully grasp the current strategy, vision, challenges and ongoing projects. Start identifying opportunities for improvement.

  • Actively participate in code reviews and technical discussions, setting standards for reliability, quality, and maintainability.

Within the first 6 months, you'll:
  • Mentor engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally.

  • Start delivering significant improvements, in architecture, cross-team alignment, project execution and technical roadmap.

  • Become an expert in several of your team’s focus areas and support engineers in leveraging the platform effectively.

Within the first 12 months, you'll:
  • Have a deep understanding of the entire system, capable of debugging complex, cross-team issues.

  • Drive initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, and performance across the platform.

  • Lead the specification, architecture, and rollout of medium-to-large projects, gathering feedback and aligning with stakeholders.

  • Be recognized as a technical leader, influencing the engineering org’s strategy and practices.

  • Continue mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of hands-on technical excellence.

What we offer:
  • Competitive equity in a fast-growing, Series C startup backed by top-tier investors, including Y Combinator

  • 10-year window to exercise vested equity options

  • Fully remote and flexible work environment

  • 4-5 weeks of suggested time off annually for mental, physical, and emotional recharge

  • $2,000 USD for workspace setup and $1,000 USD annual stipend for continuous learning

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
