About the team
The Business Intelligence team at Cloudflare is responsible for building a centralized cloud data lake and an analytics platform that enables our internal Business Partners and Product teams with actionable insights and also provides a 360 view of our business. Our goal is to democratize data, support Cloudflare's critical business needs, provide reporting and analytics via self-service tools to fuel existing and new business critical initiatives.
About the role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Lisbon team to scale our development efforts on product and customer insights initiatives. You will lead and manage a team responsible for building internal data applications that empower our Product, Go To Market and Finance teams. In this role you will partner with the cross-functional leaders and stakeholders to build scalable solutions that will help drive data-driven decisions in the business.
What you'll do

  • Hire and manage a team of Data Engineers and Software Engineers
  • Contribute with other leaders in the team to drive a cohesive work culture
  • Communicate clearly, prioritize and set expectations with the cross-functional stakeholders
  • Drive decisions with a pragmatic approach and help remove roadblocks for the team
  • Contribute in improving an evolving platform architecture for scalability, observability and reliability
  • Connect the dots between team efforts and broader company initiatives, ensuring alignment and impact
  • Lead the development efforts for multiple full stack data applications and data platform components


Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

  • B.S. or M.S in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative fields
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in hiring and performance management
  • Strong technical foundation in building full stack applications, data products
  • Knowledge of SQL and common relational database systems such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
  • Experience writing or shipping software in a full time capacity
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Passionate for innovation and the ability to foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement


Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with container based deployments such as Docker & Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or something similar
  • Familiarity with Golang
