Role

We’re looking for a highly technical Engineering Manager to lead a senior team of engineers building mission-critical backend services built in Python. The ideal candidate for this role is driven to deliver and has a track record of drawing out technical excellence from the teams they manage with a high bar for quality. This role focuses on backend systems that are also data intensive.

**This role is fully remote within the US**

What You’ll Do

  • Be accountable for all aspects of the team’s performance including velocity of feature delivery, quality, operational excellence, hiring, retention, professional growth, and well-being
  • Build robust, well tested services and capabilities
  • Design, build and launch new features and improve the overall quality of our internal and external services
  • Collaborate across disciplines to understand our users and iterate on new ideas
  • Support our services and systems in production
  • Contribute to engineering standards, system design reviews, and best practices around scale, operational excellence, testing and cloud-native systems

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience
  • 2+ years as an engineering manager
  • Expertise in Python
  • Experience of owning products from development, through delivery to live support and maintenance
  • Expertise running an agile process (preferably Kanban) for a team and fluency with the agile toolkit
  • Extensive experience working with product managers to shape and define requirements into small, incremental business-valuable deliverables
  • Deep experience designing and implementing microservice-based, event-driven architectures, especially on Kubernetes
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating with FHIR APIs
  • Experience at a scale-up, or rapid growth, technology company 
  • Experience in the health tech domain, particularly in hospital billing systems

Compensation

$210K to $250K base salary
