Zapier is on the lookout for a talented Engineering Manager to lead the Agents teamZapier Agents is our AI-powered agent product that is already helping users delegate work across 8000+ apps. This is a unique opportunity to shape how intelligent Agents operate at scale, built on top of Zapier’s integration engine and real user workflows.

You’ll lead our technical team, with a focus on evolving a product already delivering dynamic reasoning into something even more intuitive, trustworthy, and transformative for our users. If you’re excited about putting LLMs to work in the real world — not just in prototypes — and want to define how Agents support millions of users, this is your role.

As our team grows, we're open to candidates whose experience aligns with different engineering leadership archetypes. Whether you're hands-on in the code, leading a focused team, or managing multiple workstreams—you bring valuable perspective to the table.

Player-Coach: You still spend ~50% of your time writing production code and enjoy solving complex technical problems alongside your team. You've led projects, shaped architectural decisions, and mentored peers, even if you haven’t formally held a people management title. You thrive in the space between execution and leadership. You have experience shipping LLMs in production.

Engineering Manager: You have a strong track record of leading engineering teams with a clear focus on delivery and impact. You support and grow your team while enabling them to drive technical decisions. You partner closely with product and design, aligning your team’s work with company strategy and roadmap priorities. You lead with clarity and create space for others to lead. Your team shipped a product or feature involving AI.

Senior Engineering Manager: You’ve led multiple teams or managed a broader scope across workstreams. You’re skilled at coaching managers and senior ICs alike, and you bring strategic perspective to execution. You balance technical depth with business context, and your leadership extends across team boundaries—driving collaboration, consistency, and long-term direction. • You've shipped LLM-powered products. You have hands-on experience building and shipping LLM features, with bonus points for autonomous agents experience.

You regularly work with engineers and other stakeholders from various disciplines, balancing engineering concerns, such as technical debt, with product concerns. Ideally, you find solutions that address both the team and user needs, but if not, help build understanding around difficult decisions.

• You stay technically engaged. You regularly pair with engineers to support technical decision-making despite not being an IC.

• You balance architecture with pragmatism. You make informed technical decisions, knowing when to plan meticulously and when to move quickly.

• You prioritize outcomes over process. You implement lightweight processes that drive results without creating unnecessary red tape.

• You champion frequent deployments. You believe in shipping code regularly and improving through real-world feedback rather than seeking perfection.

• Lead and develop a team of 4-6 engineers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.

• Work with the engineering team to make, evaluate, and advocate for architectural decisions that align with Zapier's vision and technical standards.

• Collaborate across engineering teams to evaluate and inform their technical decisions, creating alignment and removing blockers for the execution of Agents roadmap.

• Champion problem-solving by identifying technical challenges and improving engineering processes.

• Partner with design and product to tackle user problems effectively.

• Communicate effectively to lead your team and keep leadership informed on your team’s progress through one-on-ones, team meetings, and leadership updates.

• Review code and provide thoughtful feedback to improve code quality and engineer growth. Contribute to code when needed to fix bugs, improve developer experience, or prototype concepts.
