We’re looking for a talented Engineering Lead to join our mission and help us build a global platform that’s scalable, reliable and secure. We’re working on lots of exciting challenges, and you’ll dive right into projects helping consumers and businesses receive and send money from anywhere in the world.

The team you’ll be leading is a Screening Handling team

Our screening group is building solutions to prevent usage of Wise services by sanctioned individuals and organisations. Additionally, it ensures that risks associated with politically exposed customers are well mitigated. 

We are building a high throughput screening engine, to check transaction information against a list of millions of sanctioned or politically exposed individuals and organisations. We own, improve and maintain name matching and text normalisation algorithms, to reduce the number of false positive alerts. 

The Screening Handling team’s goal is to  scale our operations, by improving alert review tools and automation while maintaining strong process auditability and staying compliant with regulations. Additionally, you will be building a customer-facing UI for more convenient collection of information and documents.

Our main vision points are:

• We want to fight financial crime, and not just comply with requirements

• Near-real time performance of the fuzzy name matching engine, capable of performing a high number of checks per second with good precision and recall characteristics..

• Automation of manual processes: If some manual process can be described, it should be automated!
