Job Description

We’re looking for an Engineering Lead to join the embedded finance vertical at Wise Platform. Our mission is to build the world's best embedded finance platform for our partners. We work closely with multiple functions within our vertical from solutions engineering and business development to understand the pain points of some of the largest enterprises in the world to build robust, scalable solutions for them. In the team you will be exposed to a wide range of challenges for our partners from being able to frictionlessly onboard their consumer and business customers to seamlessly moving money across borders.

This is a hands-on engineering lead role that will support the engineers in their growth and driving technical decisions in building reliable, scalable products. You will be working closely with a product manager in developing a long term vision and roadmap for the team and their domain.

What will you be working on?

  • This is a hands-on role so you will be designing, developing, and maintaining the team’s services.

  • Mentoring and supporting engineers in the team in their growth and development.

  • Support the team in technical decisions to make sure we build a high quality product that is reliable and scalable.

  • Working closely with a Product Manager to own and drive the team’s direction and product plans.

  • Collaborate with teams across Wise to deliver real impact and expand the functionality we can offer to our partners on our platform.

  • Ownership of the team’s services and product. Pushing best practices and high quality products.

Qualifications

A bit about you:

  • Product-Led Mindset: You don’t just build features; you build solutions. You have a deep empathy for the user and a track record of shipping successful customer-facing products.

  • Technical Authority: You are an expert in Java (or similar modern stacks) and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty in the code.

  • Architect of Scale: You’ve "been there, done that" with distributed systems and microservices. You know how to build for high scalability and long-term reliability.

  • Multiplier of Talent: You find genuine joy in mentoring. You have a proven ability to lead small teams, fostering an environment where engineers grow and succeed.

  • Bridge Builder: You translate "tech-speak" into plain English. Whether you’re whiteboarding with a designer or presenting to a Product Manager, you communicate with clarity and purpose.
