About the role:

We’re looking for a Director, Data Platform to build and operate our first-generation data platform to power the company’s long-term data strategy. This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer.

Where you will work:

This is a hybrid role and will require up to 3 days in Garner’s New York City office.

What you will do:
  • Own and drive the execution of relevant quarterly deliverables and long-term data, ML, and AI strategy
  • Build and scale a centralized data platform that serves cross-functional needs 
  • Shape technical roadmaps and designs for shared data systems, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and governance across the data ecosystem
  • Oversee the Data Management team, including leadership of critical shared pipelines and infrastructure
  • Champion data privacy and security, maintaining trust and compliance at every layer
  • Provide strong, values-driven leadership, cultivating a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence
What you will bring to the team:
  • 7+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering 
  • 3+ years of experience building and leading software or data engineering teams, including at least 1+ year of managing Engineering Managers 
  • 2+ years of experience building large-scale data systems, including ingestion, processing and storage pipelines
  • Direct experience owning major data platform components from design to deployment  
  • Proven track record of exceptional leadership, with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead high-performing teams
  • Expertise in distributed systems architecture and best practices for scalable, quality and compliance
  • Proven ability to translate complex business needs into scalable technical roadmaps
  • Strong grasp of data governance practices, with a focus on reliability, quality and compliance
  • Preference for experience managing regulated data and/or healthcare data standards 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced startup environment, with a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to organizational success  
  • Preference for experience leading the execution of key quarterly deliverables while shaping and advancing the long-term strategy for Big Data, Machine Learning, and AI
  • A desire to be a part of our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system 
Compensation Transparency:

The target salary range for this position is $250,000 - $270,000 plus bonus. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans, including but not limited to: flexible PTO, Medical/Dental/Vision plan options, 401(k), Teladoc Health and more.
