As VP of Engineering, you’ll work closely with our CTO to build a world-class engineering team and develop the best B2C platform on the market. You’ll be a “player-coach,” focused on attracting and developing engineering talent, but also staying hands-on in the technology to oversee the development of an outstanding product and customer experience.

Our API platform is a micro-service architecture built in Java/Spring behind a suite of web apps in Rails leveraging modern javascript frameworks like React. Our infrastructure is hosted in AWS natively and through Heroku’s PaaS offering for our UI, while leveraging Jenkins for our CI/CD pipeline.

Your​ ​objectives:

• Hire, mentor, develop and retain top-notch engineering talent
• Drive innovation and architect new product features and functionality, while ensuring code quality
• Understand the trade-offs between performance, scale, and business value
• Build a collaborative, transparent culture of trust where team members are empowered and inspired to do their best work, and drive learning and employee advancement
• Collaborate closely with the executive team as well as cross-functional teams to deliver great products and solve customer problems as needed
• Support the product team and planning process to deliver great products and ensure all deadlines and needs of the business are being met
• Maintain and improve agile processes collaboratively with the teams, and enable new development techniques or processes to reduce complexity, promote quality, and increase velocity
• Communicate risk and execution status to stakeholders, as needed

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience leading and scaling advanced software engineering teams
• Computer Science degree
• 5+ years experience improving software development lifecycles
• 2+ years experience with cloud and web technologies
• A quick thinker with the ability to make business decisions with incomplete data
• Ability to deliver high-quality results under aggressive timelines and budgets
