FedNow

Frontend UI Developer

The Federal Reserve is developing a new interbank 24x7x365 real-time gross settlement (RTGS) service with integrated clearing functionality, called the FedNow service. This service will help enable financial institutions provide their customers with the ability to send and receive payments any time, any day, and have full access to those funds within seconds.  This position is a unique opportunity to be part of a new mission-critical Federal Reserve initiative that will be transformative to the payments landscape in the United States.

Position Contributions-

In this role, you will be part of a team focused on building a modern front end build on JS/React. You’ll also be responsible for the development of a framework that allows many teams to contribute their own UI, using other JavaScript frameworks and libraries. Your passion for front end development and experience building large web-based front-end applications will allow you to help our team define our vision and establish technical best practices. This job does not have any direct reports. You have an appetite to learn, and a passion for technology, innovation, and developing new skills on evolving technologies.

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent background or experience
  • 3-6 years software engineering experience in a team-based environment 
  • Demonstrated experience engineering software with cloud-first architectures
  • 3-5 years in a UI Development role
  • Experience with building and deploying solutions in Cloud
  • Experience with CI/CD build tools, and DevOps processes
  • Experience building, and helping customers build, high volume, mission critical applications
  • Experience with Agile software engineering (Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc)
  • Ideally has experience working with AWS cloud-based platforms in an enterprise environment 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have recent development experience with 80% JavaScript having spent the past few years working as a JavaScript frontend developer
  • Strong fundamentals in web technology
    • JS/HTML/CSS
    • React/Angular/Vue
    • Familiar with modern tools like node and NPM
    • Unit Test frameworks (Jest, Testing Library etc)
    • Familiar with Typescript

  • Node.js Development
  • Experience developing JS libraries
  • Experience developing in a high secure environment
  • Experience developing large scale applications
  • Experience with design systems
