We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer with a proven track record of delivering results within a complex supply chain. This role will report to the Quality Director and will be required to collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, suppliers, manufacturing engineering, and design engineering. You will be responsible for the supplier facing quality engineering relationship, and all supporting activities including supplier audits, supplier selection and quality improvements of sustaining production.

This is an opportunity to be involved in all aspects of product engineering and participate in the development and improvements of exciting products that change the way people think about how they get their water.

What you will do:

  • Perform supplier audits for new and existing suppliers and provide reports that include audit scores, risk areas, observations and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with the Supply-Chain team to establish a qualifications process of new suppliers.
  • Work closely with the Supply-Chain team to establish a supplier scorecard and rate all current suppliers.
  • Act as the technical liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing and suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and complied with.
  • Provide the Contract Manufacturer and 2nd tier suppliers with technical support of incoming inspection and maintain/review incoming inspection plans.
  • Develop first article approval plan for new incoming design parts. Review requirements for first article inspection and analyze data of all new/revised design parts to assure the producer can meet the specifications supplied.
  • Together with manufacturing quality and external suppliers ensure accurate root cause analysis and effective corrective actions for design, manufacturing and field failures.
  • Integral part of the product development team. Participate in product development activities and product design reviews and ensure quality requirements and reliability standards of components and sub-systems are embedded in the design.
  • Work with supporting departments to ensure nonconforming conditions are quickly acted upon, appropriate dispositions are established and disruptions to the production line are minimized.
  • Maintain suppliers’ Quality data collection activities and run reports on a periodic basis to summarize data and to initiate and recommend suppliers’ continual improvement activities.

Requirements

What will you bring:

  • BS Engineering Degree; in an Electrical/Mechanical bias is a plus; or equivalent business experience
  • Strong communicator able to facilitate discussion and present data to all levels of the internal and external organization.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills are necessary to interpret specifications and drawings and perform problem solving and data analysis leading to improvement initiatives.
  • Very strong quality improvement background, applying statistical tools, process FMEAs and root cause problem solving tools.
  • Experience in using SPC tools and how to apply them when measuring process reliability and repeatability in the supply chain.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Experience leading Process Improvement Teams and managing major projects.
  • ASQ certifications of CQE and CQA are a plus.
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally up to 50%
  • 3-5 years' minimum work experience as Supplier Quality Engineer.
