Who you are

You are a visionary tech-savvy engineering leader that thrives on building things with real-world applications that you and your friends could talk about. You take pride in managing large, complex technical challenges and are comfortable pushing forward development best practices across the engineering team. You get energized from being the thought leader on the team to help make products scalable and reliable, and impart knowledge to those around you. You also have the experience, instincts, and analytical mindset to make quality, timely decisions.

Coworkers would describe you as action-oriented and someone who loves to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm. You are passionate about designing systems that power great end-user experiences and care deeply about system performance, especially where it impacts customers. You have worked in environments where you owned system design from the database to the API. You enjoy discussing these decisions with your peers and can explain their significance to external stakeholders.

You ideally have at least five years of experience building and operating complex systems in the cloud, including automation, security and deployment. We are an AWS house and your experience working with any cloud provider will go far here. You will be exposed to Ruby, Python, Go and a lot of Bash! You will be at the very foundation of all services we have in our large, complex and growing infrastructure.

What the role is

In this Staff Software Engineer position, you will play an essential role on the engineering team by bringing an innovative mindset to scaling our web applications. You will need to be highly experienced in back-end technologies and take a proactive approach to scaling many complex systems. By partnering closely with product managers and other engineering leaders, you will balance “having your hands on the keyboard” with leading design discussions for large projects and informing some of our largest decisions for your team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for some of the most critical parts of Drizly’s customer base like our web and app shopping experiences.

In this role you will:

• Scale out Drizly’s platform and infrastructure to handle significant step changes in traffic and volume
• Be involved in architecture, system design and high level decision making
• Help coordinate large-scale projects and initiatives such as migrating to a service oriented architecture, containerizing production fleets, and automating CI/CD pipelines
• Work with engineering leaders and the engineering organization to raise the quality of products we ship
• Provide technical guidance to other team members

For Colorado-based roles: The salary/hourly rate range for this role is $129,000 per year - $151,800 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Drizly's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award, commissions, & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
