DESCRIPTION:
As Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will be a critical member of Aetion's engineering organization. As Aetion's products continue to scale, we are writing the next chapter in our ability to innovate and operate with efficiency and maturity. You will be an instrumental part of us continuing down this path.
We are building testing tech to enable everyone throughout the company to constantly verify that our software is meeting expectations and actionable information whenever it is not. The goal is to supercharge our organization's software development, delivery, and support capabilities and enhance how we all work together.
We recognize that the traditional approach of relying on end-to-end tests to execute, then be analyzed so that defects can be reported provides feedback way too late. We are building fail-fast and shift left capabilities to detect bugs as early as possible and correspondingly deliver a variety of efficiencies. We are doing all of this by spearheading a variety of exciting technology and behavioral initiatives to improve the relationships between developers as testers as well as our scientists, product, and business partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Building, maintaining, and enhancing suites of automated functional and non-functional tests that provide fast feedback and meaningful, actionable information. We are going well beyond typical "QA automation" and delivering our technology in ways that everyone can use and contribute to.
  • Directly advance our organization-wide efforts to improve the overall quality of code, proactively remediate potential issues and security flaws, shift left and fast-fail, and enable everyone to collaborate and work more effectively together.
  • Improving Aetion's overall testing skills, disciplines, and technologies that keep Aetion's software platform reliable, highly performant, and up-to-date with multi-cloud, CI/CD, and other important efforts.
  • Providing technical leadership on projects.
  • This is a highly technical, hands-on position that requires excellent source code management (SCM) skills and writing code on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrably passionate, expert-level coding skills with strong coding capabilities in Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Well-rounded experience establishing advanced test automation capabilities that include pre-installation, developer practices (unit/component/integration testing and TDD) as well as post-installation, testing practices (component/integration/end-to-end and BDD/Gherkin).
  • This role requires a combination of software development skills along with functional and non-functional testing expertise.
  • A good understanding of front-end web development including HTML, CSS, and other markup languages.
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools, Jenkins, and debugging logs.
  • Exposure to distributed systems, CI/CD, and configuring jobs.
  • Ability to be highly successful within our tech stack which typically involves Java/Maven/Spring/Jackson/JPA/JUnit Jupiter/Cucumber, JavaScript/Node.js/React/Axios/Express/Jest, Swagger/OAS (Open API Specification), and a mix of Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Data Persistence technologies and SQL queries and/or SRE/operations/delivery experience are huge pluses.

At Aetion, internal pay equity across teams is our top priority. The salary range for this position is between $140,000 USD and $200,000 USD. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
Aetion is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Aetion is committed to being an employer of choice, not just a good place to work, but a great and inclusive place to work. To that end, we strive to recruit and maintain a workforce that meaningfully represents the diverse and culturally rich communities that we serve. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status or disabled status or, genetic information.
