Who we are

Evolv is a venture backed startup developing technology to detect and prevent active shooters and terrorists from attacking places where people gather. Our products have screened more than 10 million people, keeping them safe at stadiums, concert venues, tourist locations, hospitals, workplaces, houses of worship, and airports. Our Physical Intelligence Platform combines unique sensor networks, AI-powered threat recognition, powerful analytics, and cloud connectivity to deliver entrance security at the speed of life.

We are backed by world class investors and advisors including Bill Gates, General Catalyst Partners, Data Collective, Lux Capital, and former leaders from national security and counter-terrorism agencies. Our customer base has grown rapidly over the past 18 months to include many leading organizations in their respective fields. Having established strong demand for our initial product line, we are now recruiting leaders in sales, marketing, product, engineering, and quality to scale up the business.

What we seek

We are looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to test our systems, make them more robust, and make a difference in the world. Our products include hardware scanners and web-based video analytics systems. As an SQA Engineer you will:

  • Track, assess, and report product quality per approved methods during development and post cycles, as well as provide coverage analysis using QA tracking tools such as TestRail and others
  • Perform manual testing (some Gray Box) while identifying and communicating defects and risks
  • Create automation test cases based on manual test cases
  • Create and execute functional, system, and regression test cases and scenarios based on requirements
  • Conduct reviews with our development team, product management and business users
  • Plan, coordinate, prioritize and estimate testing activities, as well as report defects and raise issues or concerns to the project team
  • Define, maintain, and organize input and output data to support test cases and scenarios
  • Execute troubleshooting and isolate root causes for issues found
  • Propose improvements to processes and tools in order to improve overall quality and efficiency

What you bring

You have at least 3-5 years of “QA lifecycle” experience in the networking or security industry, with a successful track record of delivering projects on time (minimum two projects or major code releases delivered start to finish). You have demonstrated experience in test planning, test design, and test execution. You have good knowledge of testing methodologies such as UAT, black- and white-box testing, system testing, and regression testing, as well as a passion for quality. You have a strong understanding of release management and defect tracking processes, and you continually embrace and strive to enhance existing QA functions, processes, and procedures. Methodical, detail oriented, and well organized, you are results driven with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, and you excel at time management. You are eager to learn and seek to continually grow in technology in order to improve quality and engineering processes. You have your Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a similar field. To be considered, candidates should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience working in agile (scrum and Kanban) development methodologies
  • Ability to adopt to change well and quickly ramp up on new technologies, applications, and testing standards
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern communication test equipment and radio-based systems, tools, and sensory devices
  • Ability to work with a small team on fast-paced projects with tight deadlines
