About the Role:

Our Platform Engineering team is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager. This team is responsible for delivering tools and APIs to provide a pleasant customer experience with their data once it has gone through the Abacus data pipelines, including REST APIs, UIs, and integrations with tools such as Snowflake. We value innovation and encourage you to bring your knowledge and expertise while we build and scale our new platform components and capabilities. If you are interested in guiding and coaching a critical development team to solve healthcare’s most complex data problem, this position is for you.

You Will:

  • Direct, manage and participate in the day-to-day operations of a small software development team.
  • Manage and support your team’s operational aspects to ensure business and product/project objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with leadership, data and quality engineers, product owners, and business teams.
  • Participate in software architectural discussions, influencing decisions, and collaborating with peers to maintain consistency across the organization.
  • Provide administrative, technical, and people management for multiple, diverse, and sometimes geographically distributed teams within an Agile environment.
  • Coach, mentor, manage and provide feedback to individuals on their performance.
  • Facilitate communication upward around architecture, design, and implementation objectives and project progress.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3-5+ years’ proven experience leading/managing software development teams and projects.
  • At least 3+ years of previous experience as an individual contributor software developer.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals including Agile methodologies, OO concepts/design patterns, cloud architecture (AWS preferred), APIs, security, etc.
  • A level of breadth and depth of software development experience that allows for influence and competence in technical discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with the adjacent teams’ roles and operations – i.e., quality engineering, product management, etc.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Not required, but nice to have:

  • Experience with Databricks or Snowflake.
