Software Engineer, Java - Pet Health

Chewy’s Pet Health is on a mission to build innovative solutions for our customers and our partner vets, such as our recent launch of Chewy’s first Telehealth service and Compounding Pharmacy. Engineering plays a critical role in defining and executing our platform roadmap. Your Role:
As a Software Engineer on the Pet Health development team, your role will be to build a robust, resilient, and scalable platform. You will own the design and build of production-ready code enforcing CI/CD processes to ensure speed and quality. Your work will directly impact tens of millions of customers who care for their furry family members every day!
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, deploy and scale platform components.
- Adhere to enterprise design and coding standards.
- Adopt and help promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation through rapid prototyping and continuous delivery to production.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Software Engineering experience
- Experience designing, building, deploying, and scaling systems and/or applications using Java
- Experience with frameworks like Spring Boot for RESTful APIs and microservices
- Experience deploying code within a CI/CD environment and using cloud platforms
- Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or similar technical field of study preferred), or equivalent work experience
Preferred:
- Experience with Docker and Jenkins
- Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience in frontend web technologies and frameworks such as React, Angular or TypeScript
- Experience in e-commerce or Healthcare
- Experience working with distributed systems and high-volume transaction applications that run within a 24/7 environment
