On the Coaching Infrastructure team, you'll help scale the physiological data processing technology at the core of WHOOP's business. Our team builds systems that put cutting-edge physiological research to work in a massive-scale production environment. Your collaborators will include physiology experts, data scientists, and engineers. You’ll help scale, improve, or reimagine complex architecture to keep pace with WHOOP's explosive member growth. Your solutions will serve as the foundation for the physiological product features that help our members unlock human performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with product, software, and data science teams
• Contribute to new, cross-functional features, translating product needs to technical requirements
• Advise others on how to leverage our data and infrastructure, providing technical and domain expertise to guide the product development process
• Contribute to backend development using technologies including Java, Kafka, Postgres, Cassandra, and AWS
• Build testable, predictable, comprehensible systems, following and introducing best practices around testing, observability, and monitoring
• Identify and execute on opportunities to promote both rapid feature development and platform stability

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with distributed server-side development and associated patterns
• Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, Python, or Go
• Knowledge of AWS Services (EC2, RDS, SQS, S3, etc)
• Enthusiasm for innovative ways to test and measure system (and human) performance
• Eagerness to tackle and break down complexity in both product and technical domains
• Experience managing large-scale changes on business critical systems

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
