Software Development Engineer in Test - Chewy Gives Back
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to join our Chewy Gives Back Engineering team based in Boston, MA. Or Minneapolis, MN. You will use an analytical approach to test our applications. You should be passionate about quality and should have the ability to create, maintain and execute test plans in order to verify requirements. You have experience with white box, black box Integration and API testing, which will require a good depth and breadth of technical knowledge.
What You'll Do:
- While working within an Agile environment, you will work with Developers, Technical Project Managers and Designers to identify proper and effective testing strategies, beginning in the planning phases of a feature
- You can analyze a user story and identify ambiguities, gaps and risks that have not yet been considered
- You are able to identify important information about our product and have the ability to effectively articulate this to our stakeholders
- Monitor existing defects and bring them to closure
- Play a major role in championing the importance in quality improvement across all areas of the SDLC
- Build a strong Automation test suite by identifying high-value areas for automation
- Analyze test results and understand the root cause of defects
- Become a SME on the Payments and related applications including our storefront, Giftcard and our Native Mobile Apps (iOS and Android) for a complete end-to-end testing solution
- Have a deeper understanding of advanced test types including API, database, integration and end-to-end
What You'll Need:
- BS Degree in Computer Science or similar area
- 4-8 years’ experience in Quality Engineering and testing using a variety of techniques and methodologies
- Test Automation scripting
- SQL proficiency for database enhancements and data validation and familiarity with RDBS.
- Familiarity with CI platform (build test infrastructure to fit into the CI platform)
- Experience with Unit test frameworks or other integration test frameworks (open source or commercial)
- Understanding of TDD, BDD, and data-driven test practices
- In depth debugging skills for finding root cause of defects as a preventative method for defects
- Solid programming experience in one or more object-oriented languages such as Java, (most of our development is in Java, with some other JVM languages)
- Experience working with API and back end testing activities including data and large volumes of data moving between different backend technologies
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Bonus:
- Experience with Selenium or a similar automation tool
- Experience with Atlassian suite of tools (JIRA, Confluence, Slack, TestRail)
- Experience with Bamboo, Jenkins or similar Build tools
