We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer -- specializing in native Android development – to own the Android Tablet GUI Kiosk Application and low-level communication with the backend; opportunities to also work on the Windows tablet are available. Our products localize metallic objects in images displayed on tablets for alarm resolution. Native kiosk apps are platform-specific to handle interactions with device hardware, such as volume and brightness controls, and locking the device down for security as well as displaying our product GUI. This Software Engineer role contributes directly to the advancement of our disruptive products -- complex real-time systems including weapons detection systems, sensory devices, video analytics, web applications, tablet GUIs, with IoT connectivity to the Evolv portal and cloud services. Your proven track record and can-do attitude fits well with our fast-paced agile development environment. Responsibilities:

• Own the Android Kiosk Application
• Architect Android solutions for roadmap features
• Learn the Windows Kiosk Application over time
• Be the SME for Android security
• Participate in code reviews
• Perform technical performance benchmarking and analyses to support engineering decisions
• Optimize Tablet applications as needed
• Maintain quality throughout software development through peer code review, unit and functional testing

Requirements

• BS Computer Science or related technical field
• Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and technical troubleshooting skills
• 8+ years writing and deploying native Android applications
• Solid understanding of operating systems, specifically Android
• Solid understanding of IPC, networking programming, websockets and APIs
• Passionate about writing high-quality software using practices including test-driven development, continuous integration and agile methodologies
• Proficient/expert with security protocols
• Self-motivated and collaborative
• Communicate cross-functionally with various departments including business stakeholders and technical personnel
